AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 credit: 1up, and 10 pounds of gold for mentioning it in the "Comments" thread. Zelda: Twilight Princess Delayed to Spring 2006 Dev team requests extra time to improve game quality. by Che Chou, 08/16/2005 67 of 72 users recommend this story. Strange as it may seem, but it's 1:00AM and we've just received an email from Perrin Kaplan, VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs over at Nintendo of America, officially stating that Zelda: Twilight Princess will be delayed until sometime after March 31, 2006. The email reads: "After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess. Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller." The rest of the email reminds us that Nintendo isn't completely screwed by this huge delay. Namely, you still have Nintendo DS wi-fi to look forward to, as well as the opportunity to own yet another GBA (think Micro)! On top of that, they're putting "a lot of marketing muscle behind Battalion Wars, Mario Superstar Baseball, Fire Emblem and Super Mario Strikers." Whoa. Not only is Zelda going to miss Christmas, it's also going to miss a huge chunk of spring 2006. As the shock sets in, we're reeling to find the chink in its armor, especially after such fantastic showings so far at E3 2005, and various print and online publications. There was literally no indication the game was in any form of development trouble -- in fact, just recently, there have even been discussion with Nintendo on coverage plans leading up to the game's impending release. We'll talk to Nintendo after a short, troubled nap, and report back with any further developments. Okay... *takes deep breath*... Ah well, OOT was delayed for friggin' forever and it was worth the wait. However, since it was supposed to be the ultimate GC game, we're likely going to see a game drought on GC until it comes out (if there wasn't one already). Well, hopefully it and Tomb Raider Legend both turn to out to be well worth the time invested, rather than rushed out for X-mas.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 Well, this should piss off alot of people, and hell...Nintendo better hope sales are good this holiday season. They will have to rely on DS ONLINE and their games to sell, which they should, but it would have been nice to see Zelda this year. But, you are right AndrewTS, OOT was delayed to hell, and it was WORTH IT. OOT was a MASTERPIECE. I think the same will happen with this Zelda.

{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 That being said, at least it won't end up rushed like WindWaker. But man, are Nintendo's Christmas sales going to be dismal or what?
Renegade 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 Oh why don't they just stop the teasing and say its coming for the revolution.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 Oh why don't they just stop the teasing and say its coming for the revolution. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because the Revolution isn't supposed to be out until 2007, for one.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 I was only holding onto my Gamecube for that one...now I'm pretty sure I'm going to off it, the system will end up going cheap by the time it's out anyway, I can always rebuy.
spman 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Well, as long as they can get their shit together and don't fuck up too badly, this Holiday Season is Microsofts chance to get a huge lead in the next gen console wars, as it becomes rapidly more apparent that not only will theirs will be the only console on the market for Christmas, but they're also going to bve the only ones with anything even margainally interesting as well. Unless Nintendo and Sony have some sort of unannounced ace up their sleeve to pull out before the end of the year, they're gonna have a lot of catching up to do. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Sony has We Love Katamari, RE4 (okay, it'll suck, probably will outsell the GC one), Dragon Quest VIII (depending on when 360 launches in Japan, that game alone could snuff the 360 hype unless Blue Dragon launches with it), Soul Calibur III, Kingdom Hearts 2, Ratchet: Deadlocked, and Tales of Legendia. That's still left in this year, and doesn't count multi-console titles. There's probably more I missed. Nintendo has the above-mentioned titles, Pokemon XD, some licensed 3rd party crap...and that's about it. I wonder if that Gamecube Kirby is happening. I've seen it on release lists and some screen shots...but we know how Air Ride turned out (delayed until the next console gen, that is).

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Shadow of the Colossus: yeah, definitely one to look out for, but I don't expect a sequel to Ico to be too big a seller. More of a sleeper hit. Okami I thought was PS2/Gamecube, but seems you're right. Sony--publish a US Ape Escape 3, you bastids!
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Later this year, DS sales are gonna pick up as well, with people trying to get Mario Kart and Animal Crossing for the DS ONLINE. At least DS sales will be way up.
