The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 John Darnielle is a very good songwriter, but damned if a little bit of his vocals don't go a long way. Your thoughts?
DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 I once stole one of their EP's from my student radio station because Atom And His Package covered 3 of their songs on "Redefining Music". It was pretty decent, haven't played it in about 2 years, but yeah, something about the vocals was quite irritating.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 I like him/them, but one or two Goats albums are all you need. It's all kinda samey.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 I like a lot of the stuff from Tallahassee. I don't know how much patience I'm gonna have for some of the older lo-fi stuff.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 All Hail West Texas is the only of his lo-fi solo recordings I own (the other MG album I have is Tallahassee). The songs are really good, though his voice sounds rougher, thanks to the lack of studio polish. It doesn't bother me, but it might you.
Guest Derek Bailey Report post Posted August 19, 2005 I like his voice. The songs are samey and too few stand out, but a really really great four disc compilation could be put together from his best stuff. His The Boys are Back in Town / Ignition (Remix) medley is his career highlight, though.
