Eclipse 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 When did that happen? I thought only Yahoo's DSL service was doing it. We are paying like 29.95 for the 1.5/384 package, but it seems like they don't even have that package anymore? I wonder if that means that we will have that 14.95 price.... Carnival 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 We here at Alltel are offering 3.0mb/384k for 19.99 for existing dial-up customers. So get Alltel Dial-up then switch to DSL.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 My check today was cashed for membership in a wireless broadband Co-Op. Supposedly, by the end of next month I will be getting 1.5 Mbps download speed (no idea of the upload speed) via a brand new wireless broadband network being set up on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland (specifically Worcester County for now) for $29.95 a month. I live too far out for Cable or DSL, so this was a blessing (as I was considering breaking down and going for Satellite which is like $60 a month and slower). Great part is that its a Co-op and the Co-op exists only to serve people who can't get broadband otherwise, so when it starts making money, they'll redistribute the profit (anything over what it costs for them to run the network) back to the members. I can hardly wait to dump my 24kbps slow ass dialup.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Mostly likely, you will have something like 1.5/384, like Verizon does, but who knows. I hated dialup, but it was funny. In the months leading to the decision of my mom finally getting DSL, my internet was going faster. Like, instead of connecting at 46.6K, it was connecting at the max, which was like 52 or 53K.
