edotherocket 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 We were all taken aback when Electronic Arts originally showed off their "target render" clip of Madden NFL 2006 for Xbox 360 earlier this year. In fact, EA went as far as to claim the actual game would look superior to the renders. Does it? You can judge for yourself, thanks to all-new footage that's come out of a Burger King promotion with the NFL and EA. To check it out, you have to jump through a series of hoops on Burger King's www.nflyourway.com website, but Xbox fan site Xboxyde has already taken care of that for us lazy folk. Simply head over to the appropriate download link, boot up your favorite media player, and enjoy the pigskin show. So, what's the deal? Is this an old build? Did EA have to deliver the footage way ahead of time for Burger King's promotional campaign, and resort to an older, less polished version of the game? Nope. I contacted EA about the video and confirmed it's most definitely new. What I'm being told strongly suggests this is the Madden NFL 2006 you'll have running on your Xbox 360 later this year. Unfortunately for EA, fan response to the video hasn't been especially positive so far. "Madden 360 looks like the best next gen game out there when you just look at the screenshots," says Gaming Age Forum user 'MrBob,' "But when you see it move and it looks exactly like the ps2 version in motion it makes you go " Many aspects of the video - such as the animations - could simply be placeholder; the game has a few months of development left. There's no reason to rush to any extreme conclusions, so don't break down and start crying just yet. Much of the debate could be settled with a higher resolution, less compressed version of the footage, but because of the promotional ties and certain embargoes on media, EA can't release anything more. Believe me, I tried explaining how much complaining would be saved from a higher-resolution video, but we'll simply have to wait. I assume this is an isolated incident though and that the trailers of games such as Kameo, Alan Wake and Project Gotham Racing are all showing true in-game graphics.
