As it was designed to be, this was a complete downer of a season finale. Very minimal comedy moments and just shrouded in a dark depressing tension building to the confrontation that all fans feared.

Although I was expecting to see Chris lift her hand at the end to show a ring, indicating they got eloped over the night.

I hated the prospect of Lorelai sleeping with Christopher so much that I didn't watch it.

Probably the right move, aside from the sight of Rory in a blonde wig and red dress there really wasn't anything redeeming. The endless string of troubador invasion scenes with Taylor wasn't even chuckle worthy, Emily acting matchmaker on Christopher didn't work. Strike that, Kirk's line on Neil Young produced a laugh.

Taylor: Who's Neil Young?

Kirk: One of the Monkees.

A decent one liner and a rare sexy Rory doesn't fix the depressing finale.

The dinner scene was okay. Other than that, the episode wasn't very good. Pretty bad for a season finale.

Lorelai: "What's that disease called when you're afraid of spiders?"

Carolyn: "Arachnophobia."

Lorelai: "Is there a disease for being scared of people who are scared of spiders? I think I have that."

Carolyn: "No, I don't think there is a scientific name for it."

Lorelai: "How about Arachnophobia-phobia?"

Lorelai: "So, what did you think about Adriana getting whacked?"

Carolyn: "I didn't like it. I miss her."

Lorelai: "Me too."

Emily (cutting Lorelai off): "Would you stop?"

Lorelai: "What? I was serious about that!"

(after dinner)

Emily: "Gerta, did I fire you?"

Gerta: "No, Ma'am."

Emily: "Everything is off tonight."

From Variety:

'Gilmore Girls' canceled

CW, WBTV wrap production on show

By JOSEF ADALIAN

Say goodbye to "Gilmore Girls."

After weeks of talks aimed at bringing the show back for a limited run next season, the CW and Warner Bros. TV have decided to wrap production on the quirky dramedy that focused on fast-talking femmes. Skein, now in its seventh season, will air its final episode May 15.

"Gilmore" was a holdover from the now-defunct WB network. Debuting in 2000, it quickly became one of the Frog's signature skeins, with crix eating up the witty banter between mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel). Series was set in the fictional hamlet of Stars Hollow, CT.

CW and WBTV released a joint statement noting the passing Thursday morning.

"Announcing the final season of 'Gilmore Girls' is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television," statement read. "This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters."

David Rosenthal exec produced and served as showrunner on the current season of "Gilmore," which was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. WBTV and CW thanked the producers and cast for their work, as well as crix who supported the show with glowing reviews.

"(We) promise to give this series the send off it deserves," statement said

I figured it would go 7 and done.
