AndrewTS Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 http://cube.ign.com/articles/652/652473p1.html Game itself is looking incredible. But the whole Dark Prince thing looks horribly lame. "Now he's EVIL Prince and Hideously Evil Prince!"
Anya Posted September 21, 2005 Report Posted September 21, 2005 I liked the first two. The dark thing is kind of lame though. It's a lame cliche in any game it's in. Like it really sucked in Metroid Prime 2. Altough evil twins would be pretty cool in real life. I wouldn't mind having an evil twin.
AndrewTS Posted September 22, 2005 Author Report Posted September 22, 2005 Well, 2 already used the cliche (but still cool) "It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead." persuer gimmick. The funny part is that Fusion did that and the evil twin thing better than those, IMO. Hopefully it is thoroughly bug-tested this time, and perhaps the combat system will have fewer "Hey...I see you're trying to cross a tight-rope...this would be a great opportunity to have a bunch of enemies try to kick you in the face and knock you to your death" areas.
Anya Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I didn't know you liked WW. I thought you hated how angsty it was.
AndrewTS Posted September 22, 2005 Author Report Posted September 22, 2005 I didn't know you liked WW. I thought you hated how angsty it was. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still love the platforming gameplay. I hate the crappy music, the fact that it is ridden with bugs, the muddy, uglier designs, several "improvements" made in the battle system, and yeah the angst. It's borderline on being ruined, but still has enough redeeming factors to make me like it.
Anya Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 that's what I thought too. Everyone was saying it was just totally ruined. It was still fun.
AndrewTS Posted September 27, 2005 Author Report Posted September 27, 2005 Prince of Persia Comes to PSP Builds on Warrior Within with new maps, new puzzles. by Jane Pinckard, 09/27/2005 3 of 3 users recommend this story. Ubisoft has just announced that Prince of Persia will come to the PSP. The title, currently in development by Pipeworks, will "build" on Warrior Within, which is a bit vague; do they mean it will be an expanded port of that game? Not sure, but it will apparently feature original content, including new maps, levels, and puzzles. The game is scheduled to ship this December. We'll definitely have more on this title soon, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, check out the screens. Interesting, especially if they fix some bugs.
AndrewTS Posted October 22, 2005 Author Report Posted October 22, 2005 Warrior Within is now only 20 bucks! Got it at EB for $19.99, and seems to be the same price everywhere (well, Walmart for $19.82). After playing it for about an hour straight, I'm reminded it still is an awesome game. That hour was free of Balde Dancers, the Dahaka and the accompanying Godsmack riff of course. And since I'm bumping anyway, here's a recent OPM article on Two Thrones: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3144341&did=3
dubq Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 First one was still my favourite. I didn't like 2 much. Three is looking promising though.
AndrewTS Posted October 22, 2005 Author Report Posted October 22, 2005 vivi: how much did you play it? I know that I, for one, *hated* the first hour or so of the game. The excessive enemies, the Time Bitch, all that damn Godsmack, the Balde Dancers who knock you to your death a few times, etc. Yes, that sucked. However, it has since tapered off, and the 2 hours or so I've played of it since buying it and continuing my game has been pretty darn fun overall. The free form combat is winning me over, too. I miss using the dagger in combat, though. Plus, in SoT it was nary impossible to end up falling off a ledge when fighting, while it can happen here.
Slayer Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 I smolder with generic evil... Speaking of the original, this is still one of my favorite PA's ever
AndrewTS Posted November 9, 2005 Author Report Posted November 9, 2005 A rather in-depth preview here: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3145525&did=1
AndrewTS Posted December 3, 2005 Author Report Posted December 3, 2005 Review in; and the game seems to be quite awesome. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/672/672820p1.html Probably I will need to pick this up next paycheck. Plus the game is out now.

As soon as I heard "I Stand Alone" I put my tv on mute.
AndrewTS Posted December 3, 2005 Author Report Posted December 3, 2005 Two Thrones is, BTW, Godsmack-free.
Anya Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 I will get it after I finish Half-life 2. This game show on Spike TV is covering it now.
AndrewTS Posted December 5, 2005 Author Report Posted December 5, 2005 I bought the game. Really loving just about everything so far. The game is gorgeous (this being the GC version and previously only having the PS2 games may have something to do with it though), with the PoP-ish architecture and art design that's a joy to look at and even more so to navigate. As mentioned before--no Godsmack. Although I swear some of the same music from SoT often pops up. Not a bad thing, though. No more angry grunting and threats from the Prince, instead so far expressing his shock and horror of what he came home to. Sound effects are very WW-ish. What I've played so far is paced very well. If you're a vet of the series, you can jump in but not feel like your intelligence is being insulted. The game refreshes you while introducing you to new techniques quickly but managably. As for combat--well, so far it's tough but fair. The stealth kills are very useful. Remember in say, Mark of Kri or Tenchu, sneaking up behind an enemy and plunging your sword/sai into a baddie's neck? Now imagine in after wall running, rebounding off a shutter, grabbing said baddie's neck, spinning around his back--lights out. However, if you fail, the enemies are VERY tough. So far even two enemies can really be a handful, although I'm without the dagger or time or any way to rewind/slow time. I expect more weapons and skills to make the road smoother, though. So far you can find new weapons laying around that will grant you a new combo, like WW. Definite winner. I haven't played as Dark Prince yet, however, so I'm very early in the game still.
AndrewTS Posted December 5, 2005 Author Report Posted December 5, 2005 I wouldn't be worried, it seems easier than WW, but regardless there's selectable difficulty. Nobody seems to be really complaining about the difficulty.
Anya Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 I am paranoid about every game being too hard, which is weird since I beat Ninja Gaiden and DMC 3.
Use Your Illusion Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 She didn't say super easy games are fantastic either.
Anya Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 I would take too easy over too hard any day but a nice balance is best. There should be a threat of dying without the frustration of having to repeat the same thing over again. I like things like infinite continues and frequent checkpoints. Like with DMC 3 and Gaiden the fighting was exciting but the fear of having to start the entire mission over again lead to me buying tons of health potions and repeating the same effective attacks.
AndrewTS Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 1up with a review. It's *loaded* with spoilers, however. However considering that probably a lot of people who got it first day may have completed by now, it's not so bad. http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3146191&did=1 I agree with a lot of the criticisms, however, but it's still an excellent title.
Use Your Illusion Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Over already!? How long is the thing?
AndrewTS Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 I didn't beat it, since I didn't get it first day (only got to sit down and play it since Monday) and also had the new Batman TAS box set, but I've gotten past the 2nd Dark Prince section and the chariot sequence that followed.
AndrewTS Posted December 9, 2005 Author Report Posted December 9, 2005 Faced the first boss (yeah...he's quite a ways into the game), who is quite God-of-War-riffic. Huge beastie with no lower jaw--you have to platform your way above him, take out his eyes, then cut him down to size from there.
AndrewTS Posted December 10, 2005 Author Report Posted December 10, 2005 http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/princeo...ia3/review.html Another review--and check out the Watch link next to Gameplay Movie 1 to get a sneak peek at fighting that first boss. On a related note, it seems the Aeon Flux game may actually be a good platformer in a similar vein, with several very positive reviews just about everywhere I've seen it reviewed. Suprisingly, our occasional guest Bloodrayne geekette Yuna Firerose hasn't popped in to give us feedback on it (Terminal Reality, the devs of Bloodrayne, also did AF), because it appears AF was developed like an outgrowth of the Bloodrayne series.
