Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted October 5, 2005 So I watched Thunderqueen for about the 3rd time in my life over the course of about 8 years or so. JWP -- Ozaki, Kansai, Fukuoka, Suzuki vs AJW -- Kong, Takako Inoue, Kyoko Inoue, Hasegawa T(One should watch Ozaki vs Takako Inoue which occured shortly before this) Kansai -- The captain of the team Ozaki -- The best actress in wrestling Ozaki is second in the hierachy and one of WP's top 5 fav wrestlers Fukuoka -- 3rd in the hierachy. The up and coming wrestler Suzuki -- The smallest of the bunch. She is a good wrestler but is still the weak link of the team AJW Aja Kong -- The leader of the team. Ahead of Kansai in hierachy she is the big woman of the team and is easily the most dangers Kyoko Inoue - 2nd in hierachy she is the most charasmatic wrestler on her team Takako Inoue - The bi*** of her team Hasegawa -- Last in the hierachy One of the things that made this match spectacular for me when I first watched it was the moveset and the counters. I also marked out for wrestlers kicking out of moves that would finish someone off in other leagues. It gave these set of wrestlers an extra toughness feel for me. Today I've seen it "all" and the freshness of those forementioned counters and moveset is not there anymore. That however does not change the fact that this is one of the best bouts I've ever seen. I don't even have it as my best match ever but I think it should be considered.Well actually it is considered but it's uaually thought of after a few other matches when really it should be thought of right away. AJW and JWP were the two biggest womens' wrestling promotions at the time. AJW was like the WWF and JWP was like the WCW in terms of proportional size. The battleground was taking place on JWP's home turf though there would be fans of both organisations present as both companies would often wrestle at the same places. JWP is the underdog. There are a lot of factors that allow this match to be as great as it is. The moveset, the counters, the ultra quick pacing, the stiffness, the team camradie and how the hierachy plays into it, the stories, the underdog factor, the emotion, the alive factor and just simply the majic of it all. You will never have 60 minutes go by faster in your entire life. I was thinking about going into pieces of the match and explaining why they moved me but I don't want to spoil it too bad since I'm pretty sure a lot of fans on this board have not seen this before. I don't even want them to be tempted to click on spoiler tags. Eh, maybe a few spoilers. You will see one of the team's captain members go down quick and hard only for her to later on try to redeem herself through sheer fighting spirit, you will see Suzuki get singled out by the AJW team and curse AJW for their stragety, you will see Kyoko and Kansai fight it out like there's no tomorrow , you will see the ultimate combination of human walls and exciting/emotinal nearfalls combined with the drama of seeing underdogs trying to fight from behind, you will see and ending where a wrestler once again proves hereself ; you will see everything and than some. This match is actually like a really exciting hockey game except it's wrestling. Watch, love, cherish and savour it. Wrestling doesn't get much better than this and in fact maybe it never has been better. Best match ever? Perhaps. What do other people think? What do you think is the best match ever? Special K 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2005 I have this match on tape, and have been avoiding it, because I'm not very familiar with any Joshi stars outside of Akira Hokuto and Aja Kong. This is usually fine in a tag, but 8 people is just too much to process. Besides the one match you mentioned, are there some good matches to familiarize myself with the competitors? Besides the one match you mentioned, are there some good matches to familiarize myself with the competitors? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://www.quebrada.net Lorfice has a lot of suggestions on what to watch. Some people don't agree with his wrestlng opinions but that doesn't change the fact that he knows what he's talking about. Lots of info. Just go for it and watch the match anyway. Don't worry too much about being familiar enough. A lot of the wrestlers' personalities shine in the match anyway. I wouldn't really know what matche to reccomend to familiaze yourself with the competitors. There are so many good matches to choose from which it makes hard just to choose a couple. Ozaki is the wrestler that you probably would have to watch the most so you can get familiar with her as she's got in my opinion the most interesting personality. Ozaki vs Takado is reccomended because it's a setup match for a crucial part of Thunderqueen. Kansai and Kyoko had a match ( can't remember when it occured) where they fight very hard for thie respective finishers since those finishers are lethal to both wrestlers. That plays a factor in Thunderqueen.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 While on this topic, I would love to find those Joshi matches they had in WCW circa 1996-97. Any ideas?

This is usually fine in a tag, but 8 people is just too much to process. It might seem overwhelming at first, but this match is loaded with so much personality and action that it's pretty much impossible not to enjoy right off the bat. are there some good matches to familiarize myself with the competitors? The most obvious choice would be the Ozaki/Suzuki vs. Double Inoues tag from Dreamslam I. Since that show is usually the first one people watch, it works as a good segue for two of the pairings seen in TQ -- Ozaki vs.. Kyoko; Takako vs. Suzuki. So, yeah, give it a shot -- it's a good bet that you'll be hooked and want to see more. And if that's the case, check out Air Raid Crash for the best Joshi reviews anywhere. Don't even bother with Quebrada -- from my experience, the only thing that site is good for is match listings. Lorefice is notorious for hitting the ratings bong on a lot of that stuff.
