Foozer/Wee Fighters Tour

Recommended Posts

I just went to the show last night in Chicago. I got the tickets for free. Let me tell you what…that concert was fucking awesome. It's the best concert I've been too all year. Both bands were better than I expected. I expected a really good live show but I didn't expect anything to that level.

Kaiser Chiefs were opening up for the bands. I haven't heard much from them except on the drive over I heard a song on the radio. They were surprisingly good for an opening act. The singer was nuts and was full of energy. They only played about 8 songs so I figure they must be a new with only one cd out.

Weezer was up next and just blew the place away. They played songs off of all their albums. Opened with My Name is Jonas and closed the encore with Hash Pipe. They grabbed some guy from the crowd and had him play acoustic on Undone. They played more material than the Foo Fighters did. I didn't keep track very well but my guess is that they played over 30 songs. They were on stage for a little under 2 hours. They also did a cover they said they came up with that day of the Foo Fighters - Big Me. It was pretty damn good. They also randomly played Blur - Song 2 at one point during the set. They were just as good if not better than the Foo Fighters.

The Foo Fighters were amazing. Opened with In Your Honor and closed the encore with Monkey Wrench. They played a lot of their old stuff. Grohl even played the drums toward the end and let Taylor sing. At one point Dave Grohl decided to just go run out onto the floor and go play at the back by the sound board. The floor was slick as hell from beer and what not and he completely took out some woman with a beer when he can off the stage to go into the crowd. Only complaint with the Foo Fighters was one really drawn out song in the middle. I couldn't even figure out what it was because it was so long, but this was when he was dicking around in the crowd. The played a lot of the songs off of the Rock Side of their new album. They didn't play any off the acoustic side though. I think Grohl got more intoxicated as the show went, but thats alright. He started talking about the first punk rock show he went to was at the Cubbie Bear in '81. He said he was going there afterward and buying shots for everyone after the show. He's a crazy bastard. They played very well.

If you're a fan of either or both of these bands, you have got to check out this tour. It's definitely worth the price of admission, even though I didn't pay.

They've been playing Big Me all tour...and they played about 19 songs. But hey, I went to the Phoenix show and they pulled my girlfriend onstage to play Undone on acoustic- then they let her keep the guitar. Very cool.
