Guest The REAL W.C.W. Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Although I travel very little, I made an exception this past weekend and flew to Chicago where I had a simply marvelous time. I was visiting a friend, Mr. Walter W. Fremont and he was so kind as to take me on a sight seeing trip. I will be posting photos soon, but here is a recap: 1st we were off to Milennium Park, a truly lovely place with a giant metallic structure in the shape of a bean...I know a few colleagues of mine here at Berkeley would get quite a kick out of that! Next we drove to the Suburbs where we spent part of the day at Six Flags Great America. Now I go to Magic Mountain back in my home state of California often, although I never ride the coaster machines, I do enjoy a nice cool Ice Cream Sundae, and the carnival games are good fun. After that we stayed in Gurnee, Illinois and ate at what is called "Chicago's Famous Hoagie Hut" I must say it was my first time trying an authentic "Chicago Style" Hot Dog--being the inventor of the cheesedog in California in the 50's I consider myself a connoiseur, and this dog was top notch! We ended our trip by heading back to the city to the Sears Tower. A lovely view, if not a tad bit disorienting! My ears popped upwards of 12 times on the elevator up! Chicago truly is my kind of town. And long live the Hoagie Hut. :-William C. Wells
