Toronto — Longtime Toronto Blue Jays announcer Tom Cheek has died at the age of 66.

Radio station 680 News reports Cheek died at his Florida home after a battle with brain cancer.

Cheek had witnessed every Jays game over a 27 year period.

From the franchise's first game on April 7, 1977, until June 3, 2004, Cheek was at the ballpark for every pitch.

He missed his first game in decades because of his father's death.

Just 10 days after his father died and on his 65th birthday, he underwent an operation to remove a brain tumour.

Funeral details have not yet been announced.

This makes me incredibly sad. Tom and Jerry made listerning to Blue Jays telecasts so enjoyable. I still remember his call of Joe Carter's home run to win the 1993 World Series:

"Touch 'em all, Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"

RIP

Yeah, this sucks. Don't listen to too many games on the radio, but always enjoyed hearing Cheek call games whenever I did. I'm not a big fan of Jerry Howarth and Warren Sawkiw is the drizzling shits, so I probably won't be trying to listen to too many games next year.
