NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Well I just rented High Tension from the video store and I want to know the difference between the U.S. Uncut version and the Original French Director's Cut version....(Both of which are contained on the DVD) Thanks. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 The Uncut version basically has more gore, and is about a minute or two longer. Other than that, nothing much.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Yeah, just a few extra shots of gore, nothing too special and nothing that changes the story. I bought the DVD tonight, and I'm just glad that it includes the original French language track along with English subtitles. It looks like a pretty solid DVD package to me. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 So yeah I just finished it, and I thought overall it was a good movie, the first and second act were top rate. Tons of gore and realism within the gore, however I must say I am kind of getting sick of this type of twist being used to basically render what WE THOUGHT to be real, useless. I mean it seems that lately a lot of these movies use this kind of twist so that they can get the viewer extremely involved into the plot up to the point the twist is revealed, and once the twist is revealed it kind of ruins what you have been watching the last hour or so because it didn't mean jack. See: IDENTITY Funny because my girlfriend is usually not as good as me at figuring out plot twists ahead of time, however once the girl was watching her friend shower from outside on the swing through the bathroom window so intoxicatingly, and then was masturbating to it in the next scene, she basically called the twist right then and there
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 The twist really didn't work at all. Cause it doesn't explain where the truck came from. I mean she rode to the house with her friend. The twist was just poorly thought out and didn't work. Despite that, fun film. Course I would have liked it more if it had all been some kind of weird sex game between them and the "victim" smiles at her and they share a blood soaked kiss. That would have been great. Murdering lesbians rule.

This is the impression I took away from the twist after thinking about it for a bit, post-viewing: Marie, the blonde lesbian, never knew Alex and vice versa. She was never in the car with Alex in the beginning and she was never a guest in her family's house. Everything up to the time that she sees Alex in the window, showering, is a fantasy in her mind. The first time Marie actually comes in contact Alex's family is when she shows up at their door and kills the father.
