Nintendo To Offer Free Online Games At McDonald's

Basically, you go to McDonald's, get your cheeseburger, and play Mario Kart with your buddies in Seattle, D.C., and San Francisco (well this is where MY buddies are). Combine this with the fact that you apparently only need one game card for 8 players and I've got to think this'll move some DSes. Hell, I'll be encouraging everyone I know to get one.

 

Mario Kart drops on November 25th, by the way.

Sounds like a good way of advertising the product as well as boosting some Mickey D's sales...as if gamers didn't already pound down those ratburgers.

I never go to McDonalds.. couldn't they have done this with Starbucks as well?

McDonald's attracts a much larger portion of the DS crowd (I.E. kids0 than does Starbucks, but yes, that would be nice.

 

At any rate, this is a great idea. The DS has the most potentialof any system out there, something which I have believed since I saw all the DS stuff at E3. Playing those games there is what made me purchase the system.

 

Can't wait for Mario Kart and Animal Crossing!

So is a McDonalds going to be the ONLY wireless hotspot the DS? I seem to remember them saying that they'd have them all over the place in cities.. I hope this isn't what they meant.

I know that, even though they are not Nintendo-sponsored, there aremore than a few gaming-oriented internet cafes in the LA area which support and encourage wireless DS multiplayer gameplay.

Yah. Did they also go through with that thing where you have to have a special Nintendo DS wireless hub too?
