Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Silliness aside... I'd say that Nas' "Nastradamus" was a huge disappointment. I rememeber picking it up the day it came out and playing when I got home. After 3 songs, I got pissed because the album was sucking some serious shit and I never even finished it. Thank God, he came back with Stillmatic... Also, I concur with the Snoop Dogg bit. Everything after Doggystyle was fucking awful. Nastradamus was pretty bad, but I was't expecting anything out of it. You could see that Nas was losing his fastball, so to say, sometime in between The Firm and that point. And that single with Ginuwine sealed it. Still, there were some decent songs on Nastradamus, but that was mostly because of the beats. Like "Shoot 'em Up," and "Big Girl."
Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2002 I didn't quite catch Load when it first came out but when I first got interested in Metallica I bought the albums in chronilogical order and when I got to Load, I thought it was a load of shit. And they never recovered. Load may be a far cry from their previous work, in fact its a different sound altogether...but to say it *KILLED* Metallica? Please... Every band evolves over time, no successful band has ever remained *EXACTLY* ( dont you HATE how i do *THIS* ) the same throughout their lifespan. What Metallica did was try something else, and no experiment is without its flaws. I believe they made up for what they did with Load in Re-Load. It is more creativiley driven and an all round better record which has some great tracks. Personally i love Load and Re-Load, not much as Master of Puppets or Kill 'Em All, but significantly because it showed Met had the balls to be different and try to break free of a genre that was dead and in the past. Metallica updated themselves, and i believe they did it successfully. HORNS UP! I fuckin' love you James Hetfield This has been the Metal Taker Mark
Guest mesepher Report post Posted June 6, 2002 to say Metallica was successful with Load and ReLoad is a strong statement. Load was alright... but dude, have you listened to ReLoad lately? It's horrible... there is a reason that the songs found on ReLoad did not make the cut for the Load album. something I always laughed at twas this quote from Hetfield in the 80s: "if you came here to see people dancing around in spandex and hear lyrics like 'oh baby' you're at the wrong f.ucking show" kind of interesting since one of the main words in "Carpe Diem" is infact BABY. What Metallica did, starting in 1990, was attempt to go mainstream. People that would never have bought a Metallica album gave Tallica a listen due to the 90s era of Metallica. The funny thing is... most of those people reguard the older albums as pure garbage. So, was Metallica all that successful in the end? Going from Kill Em All to ReLoad, from down to earth fans to preppy teeny boppers.

ReLoad songs were not on Load because they didnt 'cut it'. James Hetfield, along with the rest of the band, wrote a LOT of material for their upcoming album ,Load..in fact they wrote so much that they decided to make *TWO* albums out of their new work. ReLoads songs are not considered second rate by Metallica, and ReLoad is actually the more better peice of work out of the two...so i think maybe you should rethink your approach. And to that comment you made about Hetfields public disgust for the lycra bands of the 80's..sure, Carpe Diem Baby contains 'BABY', but no member of Metallica wear tights..last time i checked. Besides, i believe Hetfield took a shot at those sorts of bands as their songs mainly comprise of them jumping around singing 'oh baby i love you oh babe' etc. etc. GET ME A BUCKET WHILE I THROW UP We cool now?
