Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 Yep, you read that right, George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" is being remade a second time. This time, it's an independent production, and it will be in 3D. The movie is going to be directed by Jeff ("Sexbomb") Broadstreet, written by Robert Valding, and stars Sid Haig and Brianna Brown. Unfortunately, Romero won't be involved, though Broadstreet hopes to get the movie in theatres by January. The official website is also up, with a trailer, premise, and other things http://www.notld3d.com/

Sid Haig is the only name I recognize. The rest get a big "WHO?" from me... The sad thing about NOTLD is that there's no copyright on it, and it's pretty much public domain. People can make as many remakes, and comic books, or whatever, as they want. =\
dubq 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 I should also note that I hate 3d.

The only good thing about it I thought (and still do think) is that Sid Haig is in it. He seemed to be the only bright spot. Other than that, I think it looks bad, but hopefully, it won't be "Return of the Living Dead 4 & 5" bad.
dubq 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 Yah. The one part of the trailer that bothered me was where Barbara gets a cell phone txt message saying "we're coming to get you" or something like that. That suggests, to me, that the zombies are thinkers/talkers.. argh!
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 I'm treating this like "The Fog" remake Download, watch and delete. Pretend it never happened. Move on.
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 so unnecesary, why remake a movie that was already remaked(and pretty good too)? i guess in about 15 years we can expect another NOTLD and then 15 years later another and another and another... now i could just accept a remake of Day of the Dead, just to complete the "Dead" remaked trilogy and get it over. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 I don't think the fuckers are even paying Romero a dime. Whatever. I don't watch theatrical films 99% of the time, so Hollywood (and honestly, I don't see this hitting theatres wide) can do whatever it wants.

I believe its from Universal also, perhaps the same who did the Dawn remake.

dubq 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 I don't think the fuckers are even paying Romero a dime. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, legally they don't have to: The film lapsed into the public domain because of the film makers' neglect to put a proper copyright notice on the film's prints, at a time when proper notice was required to maintain copyright. http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/encyclope...living_dead.htm ...but morally.. well, to be honest - Romero probably wouldn't even want any $$ from this pile of crap. "Final Destination" scribe Jeffrey Reddick is writing the script. Miner takes the job after directing such fright films as "Halloween H2O" and "Lake Placid." Romero wrote and directed the original, which follows a group of scientists and military personnel holed up in an underground bunker because the world above is overrun with zombies. The lumbering flesheaters eventually find a way in and wreak havoc on the scientists who've been experimenting on their undead brethren. Pic is being produced by Millennium's Avi Lerner and Boaz Davidson, Randall Emmett, George Furla and James Dudelson. Robert Dudelson, M. Dal Walton III, Trevor Short and Danny Dimbort are exec producing with Paul Mason and Jordan Rush. "We are very enthusiastic about the marketplace's continued demand for new and exciting horror pictures, and we are please to have Steve helm this," Lerner said. Millennium and Emmett/Furla are also scaring up "Rambo IV" with Sylvester Stallone. i guess in a year or two they'll remake Land just because
dubq 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2005 RE: Steve Miner. To his credit, he's also directed Friday the 13th parts 2 & 3, as well as Warlock and House.. so his previous horror track record is better than H20 & Lake friggin' Placid. Though I won't go into the episodes of the Wonder Years and Dawson's Creek that he's directed..
