Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2005 TORONTO - TSN made two announcements Wednesday regarding the National Football League that will see TSN televise NFL games back-to-back on Sunday and Monday nights, beginning September 2006. First, TSN President Phil King announced a milestone acquisition for Monday Night Football - the most successful series in sports television. TSN will have exclusive Canadian rights to the program beginning next season, airing a total of 17 Monday night games annually. Man, that really sucks. Looks like we only get the late edition at 12 am.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2005 Man, for Canada, it'll be like in Japan where you have to be a vampire to watch wrestling. That, or learn to set yoru Tivo's or VCR's.

Jebus 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2005 If I wanted to watch MNF, there's always that channel...y'know...ABC! This only benefits those who don't have ABC at all, which is no one. Who has TSN and not ABC?!?! Maybe some overly patriotic Canuck who boycotts American stations.

Thanks for confirming, CC. I'm okay with it now since ESPN is not on basic cable here due to TSN pretty much being ESPN Canada...now it all makes sense. I'll just tape RAW, which is good so I can fast forward through the crap and be done with it in about 12 minutes.
Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted November 10, 2005 If I still watched Raw, I'm sure I'd be crushed. It still sucks for the rest of the Canadians, though. I wonder if Vince will attempt to find another network to air the shows in Canada, not that I can even think of one. This could possibly be a major blow to the WWE, as I believe business is still strong in Canada.

Guest Tuxedo Mask Report post Posted November 10, 2005 If in the name of injustice DIsney is making NFL a cable exlcusive, then I guess even I can agree that it the moonlight should shine on TSN in Canada. A maiden with a pure heart who enjoys football should not be wronged by that move. In this regard I believe TSN made the correct move. However, as a casual football fan / big wrestling fan living in Canada... I'm not thrilled. Maybe darkness will continue to cloud the light of WWE's moon and in one year I won't care. The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2005 I don't mind as long as Fight Network continues to show Ring of Honor at 9:00 on Mondays. Next September, maybe they'll be at NOTG2 or DGI or something. Hooray.

TSN probably won't drop it though, as it is still one of the top-rated shows on the network.

AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2005 I don't mind the move so much, as this past week was the first time I watched it live in a few months. My gripe is that they edit the replays for time. So we probably won't get the almost-complete version (minus "Boot of the Week"-type stuff, and anything the CRTC would object to) at all anymore. Guest Fook Report post Posted November 11, 2005 Update from Meltzer: --TSN officially said that during football season starting next year, Raw would air from 12:30 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. after the NFL game and Sports Center, but would get a 9 p.m. Tuesday night replay. Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted November 11, 2005 Right now, CHUM TV has the rights in Canada to MNF. It simulcasts with ABC now and will with TSN next year. Its CityTV here in Vancouver, its probably something else in other Canadian markets. Therefor, us Canadians are screwed. Vince will defiantly leave for thescore as the WWE gets them massive free profits, and that will all die on a replay.
