Reading this thread quickly this working and thinking about it at work, I'm surprised no one has mentioned what probably was a likely contributor to Eddie's death: dietary supplements. Specifically, weight loss products, fat burners, and energy drinks, almost all of which contain caffeine and/or some ephedra-like product, all of which can cause heart problems in healthy people, and would certainly be troublesome in someone with a pre-existing condition.
