Help with 2002 fifa world cup for pc

Is it me, or are the difficultly levels out of wack in this game?  On amateur, I regularly win slugfests with scores like 4-2, while on professional, I get massacred by inferior teams with scores like 5-1.  Is there no middle ground?

I have no idea, but I felt this deserved to be bumped, after getting only 8 views and no replies in a whole year. Tomato Can probably doesn't even post here any more, so this isn't helping things, but whatever.
