Lord of The Curry Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 (edited) Haven't seen much talk of this one so far which is a shame, because it's one of the best to come along since.......well........Lost, I guess. Which isn't long but doesn't at all change the fact that this is a first-rate piece of television. A Sleeper Cell, for the uninformed is a terrorist cell that remains largely inactive, aside from one specific task which they carry out on orders. This show follows the lives of 5 Islamic Soldiers involved in their own version of a Holy War. The fact that only one of the them is from the Middle East is one of the more captivating points of the show, the leader of the cell Farik, played by Oded Fehrer of The Mummy fame. The rest are made up of a blonde-haired American guy born in California named Tommy, a former French White Supremacist who found Islam and a Serbian Muslim who saw his family murdered by Catholics. The final member is an Undercover FBI Agent named Darwyn Al-Syeed, a black American who was born and raised Muslim. The performances here are incredible. I wouldn't be hasty and say the best on TV right now but Oded Fehrer and Michael Ealy, who plays Darwyn are both excellent. The stories and point of views are always compelling and fresh because of the backgrounds of all the different members. They all have a core purpose and following but very different opinions and ways. I'm hopefully not the only one watching this. For Canadians who have The Movie Network the first 5 episodes are currently available through the On Demand Free Channel. Yanks can catch it on Showtime. Check it. Tim Cooke Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Awesome show with enough lose ends to make for a Season Two if they decide. Fans of 24, Shield, The Wire, Prison Break, etc. will really dig this show.
Mole Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 The show is done already? How many episodes was it?
Tim Cooke Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 10. They aried them all in 2 weeks. It re-airs weekly starting Tuesday, January 10, 2006.
Mole Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 All in 2 weeks??? Wow, that is a dumb move.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 If anyone has Comcast, you can watch them on ONDemand for the rest of the month.
Dangerous A Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Glad to hear they are re-airing them. I wanted to check this out, but by the time I got around to Tivo it, they were already half way in and I wanted to start from the beginning with this show.
Mole Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 If anyone has Comcast, you can watch them on ONDemand for the rest of the month. And if you have Showtime.
Gary Floyd Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Saw it before "Masters of Horror" last week. Liked what I saw, so I'll definately be coming back for more. Also, I'm still loving "Masters of Horror". Some people have been disappointed by it, but so far, there's only been one episode I didn't like ("Chocolate").
Lord of The Curry Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 To any Canadians who were watching it or are interested, episodes 6 to 10 are now available on the channels listed in my first post.
