The spoilers for Smackdown aren't up yet...but talking with one who was there...HHH is going to be getting the title shot at KOTR.

 

They started building it today.

 

Oh...and...Edge beat Angle in a cage.

 

So to recap:

 

RVD and Eddy kill each other with ladders to help RAW ratings....Edge and Angle kill each other in a cage to help SD ratings...

 

...and HHH gets a title shot.

 

He lost to Test by the way.

You don't really think the WWE will have ANOTHER title change, do you? I mean it's not like HHH is fighting one of those darned Canadian technical wrestlers, Undertaker might be able to get away with not having to job.

 

By the by, much as I dislike the idea of HHH as champion again, I realized I don't care about the title anymore.  If you were telling me HHH was in the King of the Ring tournament, THEN I'd be concerned.  Speaking of which... when are they going to announce who's in the tourny? Isn't it only two or three weeks away?

Also, if he lost to Test at Smackdown and then goes on to KOTR and wins title, you know who he will be defending the title against then don't you? HHH v. Test ME at the July PPV!

Well, considering the way it's been treated lately, I don't care about the title much.  If they want to keep tossing it around between the old guys who aren't getting any more over, then so be it.  

 

Actually, if Taker retains the belt, it might not be so bad.  Though HHH job a title shot...doesn't seem too likely.

 

In any case, big deal.  That's my attempt to be optimistic about the whole thing.  Edge and Angle rock the house, Eddy and RVD rock the house.  If this means keeping the old lumps out of the way of everyone else, maybe it's a salvageable situation after all.

The only thing that the WWE can get out of this Taker reign is to have RVD take the belt off of him.

 

They have history and chemistry.  And the WWE needs something new.

 

KOTR truly is the crossroads.

 

If HHH wins the path will be clear:  Long boring title reign ended by Edge later in the year.

 

If Taker wins there is hope that RVD will take it off of him at the July ppv.

 

But c'mon this is HHH.

 

He has to get that job back from Mania 17...can't have that hanging around.

 

HHH will win his 6th WWE title already.

HHH is in the tournament as well as fighting for the title. Screwy, I know. He's also been inserted into the IC title match, taking on Rikishi/Rico by himself and has signed a deal with Jeff Jarrett's NWA promotion (being promised the main event). He's also booking, commentating, ring announcing and working the pyro.

The first thought that crossed my mind when I saw he was fighting Taker was back to WM 17 there is no way HHH is going to do 2 straight title match jobs and job to the same person two times in a row.

 

And if Edge beat Angle clean that sounds a lot like a blowoff to me so what the hell is the undercard going to be.  I hope they insert RVD into the Austin/Guerrero/Benoit fued and if Edge blows off Angle here that only reasonably leaves Jericho for him to face so where does that leave Angle.  Is he going to have like Jericho did at Backlash just a night off.  Here is hoping the next two weeks the writers come up with some of the greatest storylines they ever had.  They are going to have to to get me to buy KOR.  There is a possibility unless the undercard is the greatest ever I most likely won't because I do not want to contribute  any buys at all to a HHH/UT main event.

I resigned myself to the fact that I will no longer order any ppv main evented by HHH.

 

The only exceptions are if RVD or Benoit are his opponent...on the one in a million chance they might win the title.

 

So I will break my streak with KOTR.

 

Eddy vs. Austin will have to wait until dvd for me.

I'm seriously thinking about not ordering KOTR now, but the only problem is if it pops a low buyrate it won't get blamed on HHH and Undertaker it will get blamed on whoever is getting a new uppercard push (see Guererro, Eddie) and people like that.

 

The way it's going now Test will win KOTR. HHH will win the title. Test v. HHH at July ppv, Test v. HHH Chain Match at SummerSlam, Test v. HHH cage match at...............

Anyway, eyes forward people.

 

On one hand, we know the WWE doesn't want to hotshot the title around anymore. And Taker is about ready for his "kiss my ass for three months, I'm retiring in a couple years" reign.

 

On the other hand, the only reason Taker got it was to get it off Hogan, and it's no news that Taker sucks and will continue to suck. (see the "Fucked-up Chokeslam #..." thread for more details). Also, not to be conspiracizing or anything, but HHH does have a particular history of evening up with people. Plus, he's being nice to jobbers like Storm, D-von, and Test.

 

As for the cage match, Angle does not get left out in the cold by coincidence. He has to leave sooner or later for training/surgery. And Edge has been preordained for success, as he was given the Rock push. This consists of being turned on by an ally and then kicking his ass, spending all your mic time making fun of your opponent, stealing your opponent's trademark moves, having a very bad IC title reign, and mugging for the camera at every opprotunity. Of course, it also means a heel turn when he finally gets to the title.

 

And Test, well, if there is a KOTR tourney, which isn't exactly guranteed as it should have started, oh, I don't know, NOW,  I think Test will be winning that particular accolade.

 

As for RVD, midcard 4 life.

 

EDIT: BPS, considering the HHH, Angle, Edge, and Test news, do you think you could cook up some kind of temporary 3 week ban for Anglesault before he sees this and brings down the enitre server?

If I recall the KOTR qualifying matches didn't start until two weeks before the event last year. If they don't have a Tournament this year that means that the 20 threads on who should win KOTR will have been for nothing.

 

Finally, we need a fan run-in during a HHH match and he should bust out the chop block on the bad knee. Everything would be right with the world again. Until January 7, 2003.
