Guest Rrrsh Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I was using the PWI Almanic for refrence in a trivia game I was playing, and I noticed that a wrestler named Sean Casey was part of Hacksaw and Snake's team vs Andre's team. It looked like a squash-ish match, cuz Hacksaw team also had a fading Patera and Santana on his team while Andre had studs like Perfect and Bravo. Was this Casey guy a fill-in, or what? Whats the story, as I have NEVER heard of this guy before.
MillenniumMan831 Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Yeah, Scott Casey was about the equivalent of Jim Powers at the time when it came to the WWF Food Chain. I know he was in the WWF for approx a year by the time SurSer88 came around so he wasn't a complete mystery to fans. I believe he was a substitution for B Brian Blair.
Bruce Blank Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I think you're right on the BBB replacement - Jim Brunzell was on the team (B. Brian's tag-team partner as the Killer Bees) glofied jobber who got a shot when they were short staffed is my guess
cawthon777 Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 I think you're right on the BBB replacement - Jim Brunzell was on the team (B. Brian's tag-team partner as the Killer Bees) Actually Brunzell was on Warrior's team. The Killer Bees wrestled their last match in September before splitting and working singles (which meant doing jobs for Terry Taylor, Curt Hennig, and the like). On a side note, Blair was a substitute for the Junkyard Dog and Brunzell was a sub for Don Muraco. JYD and Muraco were both fired in October for their behavior during a tour of Europe.
Crimson G Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Wait, I'm confused. Was it Sean Casey or Scott Casey? 'Cause they're two very different wrestlers. If I recall correctly, wasn't Sean Casey in Playgirl and isn't Scott Casey the epitomy of who shouldn't be in Playgirl?
The Amazing Rando Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 I think the real problem is that the first poster appeared to be cheating by using an almanac during a trivia game. Shame On You!
Guest TheGreatWesuke Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) It was in fact Scott Casey who at the time of Survivor Series 88, myself being a 10 year old kid had never heard of him before either. As it turns out Scott Casey was a big name in the Southern States, my best guess is that Casey was gobbled up by the WWF when Vince had run another territory into the ground. In this case the territory was San Antonio and Southwest Championship Wrestling. SCW actually had a TV deal with the USA network at one point... Casey showing up in the WWF would have been a few years after the deal was lost and WWF had taken over. Vince was probably playing on that little bit of fame Casey would have had as well.
