Guest J0bber Report post Posted January 22, 2006 I just compiled some statistics about Raw vs. Smackdown in the main event that was the last match on the card for both brand ppvs. Raw has had more PPV closers in cobrand ppvs. Backlash 2002 (Hogan vs. HHH): I believed this feud was almost hyped soley on Smackdown so I'm going to have to call this a Smackdown main event. Smackdown leads 1-0. Judgment Day 2002 (Hogan vs. Taker): IIRC, this match was mainly hyped on Raw so it should be considered a Raw main event. We're tied at 1-1. King of the Ring 2002 (Taker vs. HHH): Mostly hyped on Smackdown. So now, Smackdown leads 2-1. Vengeance 2002 (Angle vs. Taker vs. Rock): I believe this was soley hyped on Smackdown. Smackdown leads 3-1. Summerslam 2002 (Rock vs. Lesnar): Heavily hyped on Smackdown. Raw still trails 4-1. As we all know after this two separate titles where developed for each brand. Unforgiven 2002 (Taker vs. Lesnar): This went on last. This was clearly more hyped than HHH/RVD which went on in the middle of the show. Smackdown leads 5-1. No Mercy 2002 (Taker vs. Lesnar HIAC): This went on last. This was also more developed than HHH/Kane at the same show. Smackdown leads 6-1. Survivor Series 2002 (Elimination Chamber): Finally, Raw gets to close the ppv. First time Raw match is at the end of a ppv since Summerslam. Smackdown leads 6-2. Armageddon 2002 (HHH vs. HBK): Raw closes the PPV again, and this was way more hyped than Angle/Show. Raw still trails 6-3. We won't count the Rumble since the royal rumble match itself went on last. No Way Out 2003 (Hogan vs. The Rock): Unfortunately, Smackdown headlines with this match. Smackdown leads 7-3. Wrestlemania XIX (Lesnar vs. Angle): Smackdown closes the ppv yet again. Smackdown leads 8-3. Backlash 2003 (Rock vs. Goldberg): Raw makes it into the PPV closer, but not with it's shitty World Title division at the time. Smackdown maintains the upper hand 8-4. Judgment Day 2003 (Lesnar vs. Big Show Stretcher Match): Smackdown leads 9-4. After this, brand-only PPVs were introduced. Notice how the ppv closers change from Smackdown to Raw af this point. Summerslam 2003 (Elimination Chamber II): While it may not have been as hyped as SD's Lesnar/Angle, the elimination chamber closed the ppv. Smackdown leads 9-5. Survivor Series 2003 (HHH vs. Goldberg): Raw jumps up as Smackdown leads 9-6. Once again, the rumble will not be counted. Wrestlemania XX (HHH vs. Benoit vs. HBK): Raw gets another closer. Smackdown leads 9-7. Summerslam 2004 (Orton vs. Benoit): IIRC, the SD main event was Taker/JBL. Both weren't hyped but Raw closed the ppv. Smackdown maintains the advantage at 9-8. Survivor Series 2004 (Survivor Series Match for Raw GM): Raw ties it up. 9-9 Wrestlemania 21 (Batista vs. HHH): Raw gets its first lead in the war with a 10-9 advantage Summerslam 2005 (HBK vs. Hogan): Raw leads at 11-9. Survivor Series 2005 will not be counted since wrestlers from both brands were in the main event. Something to note, Smackdown has not had a show closing main event in a co-brand PPV since May 2003. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2006 In terms of title matches, Batista vs Bradshaw went on after Cena vs Jericho at last year's Summerslam and in 2003, Benoit/Angle went after HHH/Steiner at Roya Rumble '03. Smackdown probably didn't have didn't have the main event match but they did have their world title match go on after Raw's.

Just John 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2006 I think Backlash 02 was prior to the official brand split. I could've sworn Judgment Day 02 was the first ppv under the brand split (and the name WWE, as well), but I could be wrong.
