Hunter's Torn Quad

WWE notes from Da Meltz on Figure Four Daily

Recommended Posts

Mick Foley was supposed to have retired almost SIX FUCKING YEARS AGO. SIX.

One name comes to mind here: Terry Funk

Foley and Hogan have legitimate heat that probably originated earlier in Foley's career, but became exacerbated when Hogan talked about how he works out and is a real athlete, while Foley is a stuntman who "eats cheeseburgers" or something. It was typical Hogan ego-stroking. Then Foley bitched in his book that Hogan has done all he can do in the business and needs to go home.

I think Hogan's babyface nostalgia run has run it's course and that his short-lived heel character had more lifespan with WWE audiences, but it doesn't matter how they write the script, because at the end of the day I'll probably miss it all and just watch the match, hoping against hope that I can see Hogan job. (hah!) Match-wise, I'd rather see Foley bump around like a pinball and stick the sock down Hogan's mouth than the typical Hogan VS Generic Heel match, which is probably what we'll get.

Here is an old report from 1wrestling Off the Record report, with Mick Foley:

- Other words from Hogan included: “I went ahead while Foley has been eating cheeseburgers.”

- Mick said it bothered him. Those comments are very painful. To hear him say that is damaging. He mentioned that maybe Hogan resented him because Hogan’s book only reached #13 on the New York Times bestseller list while Foley’s books were #1 and on the charts for over 20 weeks. He’d like to think Hogan thinks more of him. He said Hogan’s comment is a lie. Just ask The Rock, Steve Austin or Shawn Michaels when they went in the ring for 27 minutes in 1996 (in reference to their Mind Games match, which Mick has called his best ever). For Hogan to say that is a “lie and cruel.”

- In what had to be the highlight of the interview, Mick said that if they wrestled each other Hogan would be like a whiny female porno star who complained about the other person working too hard and too fast. Said Hogan was a great entertainer, but weak in the ring. He’s not taking anything away from what he has done, but he’s disappointed that Hogan would say that. Said he gave it all physically while Hogan achieved his accomplishments in other ways.

- Mick said Hogan has done something right. When asked if he was mad when he first heard about this a few months ago, Mick said that he was at first. Then, like the wrestler that he is, he thought about how they could make money off of it. He said he regrets never working with Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and Bruiser Brody. Obviously he can’t wrestle Brody since he has passed on. He said Flair probably has some animosity towards him due to the things Mick wrote about him in his book. Said Hogan’s comments could lead to something since it genuinely bothered him.

- Landsberg asked if that would translate into a more physical match if they had one. Mick laughs, saying, “Have you seen Hogan wrestle?” They joke about how Hogan’s style wouldn’t hurt him.

- Landsberg talks about how Hogan always had to be carried. Mick agrees, but he had entertaining matches. He points to Hogan/Vince at ‘Mania. Entertaining match, but not technically good.

- To wrap up the segment, Foley said the comment has angered him. He joked about making money with him, but he’s genuinely upset by the comment.

Hogan v.s. Foley would be very interesting because it'd be pretty much impossible for either of them to do their "formula" match, for various reasons.

Hogan can't just kick Foley's ass for 15 minutes since Foley has to get heat on Hogan. Hogan's typical "test of strength" crap would look ridiclous trying to do it with Foley. I suppose they could use the rubber barbed wire bat and Foley could bump through a table and people would think they're seeing a classic.

It'd be interesting to see who people would cheer for, as well, since Foley is pretty much the anti-Hogan.

I'd cheer for Muhammad Hussan over Hulk Hogan.

Foley was in great shape for his feud with Orton.

He wore jeans for fucks sake.

JEANS!!!!!!

You mean Foley bought some jeans? Holy fuck! Did he go nuts and buy a belt too?

Believes Flair didn’t cut a promo on Monday because of fear he would overshadow Cena. They have no such care about Edge getting overshadowed.

The plan is for Cena to be ‘The Guy’, with Flair to be the set-up guy to get Cena over.

Still set to be Cena vs. Hunter at WM, but it could change by Sunday, at which point they should be set in stone.

Says Rey winning the Rumble is a distinct possibility.

Thinks they’ve crossed a line with the Rey story, because they can’t do it without Eddie which is a detriment.

Thinks WWE are unable pass up a chance to exploit a tragedy or story for gain.

Thinks it would be a mistake to take the belt off Edge.

Feels Hunter’s promo on Monday was Hunter’s way of letting people know Edge is just holding the belt and the position of Edge having to come to Hunter for help was more of making it clear that Hunter was the real star.

If Hunter beats Cena in Chicago, or even loses, Hunter will be the babyface, and Meltzer jokes that he’d like to see Hunter try to be a heel against Cena.

Meltzer's more reliable than CNN these days.
