CFL Off-Season

Recommended Posts

Guest 1916

Didn't see a thread about it, so I figured what the hey?

I don't know how many Canadians are on this board, or how many of them actually watch the CFL.

There have been some significant goings on so far for my Winnipeg Blue Bombers this off-season as they have...

-Signed Doug Berry as their new Head Coach. I think this was a good move, as Berry came from Montreal, who are contenders almost every year, with a proven program, that Berry helped build.

-Signed Barrin Simpson, the best MLB in the leauge. This was EXCACTLY what the blue needed. Kudos to GM Brendan Taman, and Doug Berry for bringing him in. (Plus it feels great that for once we out-bid one of the rich teams for a star player...Hey BC! :phaser: )

-Re-signed quality young talent, like DL's Gavin Walls and Tom Canada (who ironicly is from the U.S.A.)

-Signed quality role players like experienced DB and special teams player Mike Crumb.

Hopefully, (but not bloody likely considering my sports luck), the Bombers will win their first Grey cup in 16 years, and also be the first team since '94 to break the curse and win the cup at home. (which BTW I will be attending. Upper-West, right at the 55 baby!)

I remember the Grey Cup thread this year after the fact. I'm blanking on any others.

All I need to know about the Renegades is that their new GM forgot the name of his starting QB during an interview, and they let the starting RB go to Hamilton. Chalk up a 4-14 season here.

I'd probably watch some CFL if it was on occasionally over here. I actually prefer their rules and such over the NFL. And that Grey Cup game last year was a blast.
