Rumored LockDown matches

Recommended Posts

Japanese legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger will not appear at the TNA Lockdown PPV on 4/23 in Orlando, Florida, where he was scheduled to challenge TNA X-Division champion Christopher Daniels.

According to a source in Japan, there was a communication snafu when Liger was booked, and he'll be remaining in Japan to appear on the New Japan tour that week instead of traveling to the United States. I was told the error was not made by TNA, but by someone on the New Japan side.

TNA has already removed the Liger vs. Daniels match from their Lockdown website and are expected to announce the replacement match shortly, with a Gauntlet bout the most likely option

You know, they really should get Danielson and offer him a one night spot against Daniels, you know the same smarky crowd they were looking for with Liger, would jump for Dragon/Daniels.

That's not too bad of an idea...but it's a cage match. I would rather see Danielson in a normal match, rather than a cage. I think they should bust ass and try and get somebody else good fron outside TNA...or use Strong or Aries.

Well, Liger in a cage didn't make much sense at all either. Danielson, has had decent cage matches before. They can't just bring in some unknown or someone else in TNA on the lower totem pole (Aries/Strong). It's too late to try to draw some big outside name for what would be an meaningless match in the grand scheme of things.

I agree that Liger in a cage didn't make a whole lot of sense...but I guess I expected more out of him in a cage then I did from Danielson. I kind of look at Danielson as a pure wrestler who has no business in a cage unless it's a blow off for a feud...whereas the entire Liger appearance was a novelty, so the added novelty of the cage wasn't as big to me. Rumor has it that they're planning a Gauntlet...which I am not looking forward to.

The problem with that idea is that you're forced into having a draw or some other non-finish. Danielson, as ROH Champion, isn't about to lose on a PPV, and Daniels isn't about to lose a non-title match to someone who isn't sticking around. And even if Danielson did come in to TNA for a while, he isn't going to do jobs while still ROH Champion.

I'm completely aware of that, I'm just saying Dragon would be the closest realistic name to matching Liger to the market they were looking to attract.

You know, my scenario assumes Daniels is X-Division Champion going into the PPV. If he isn't, and he very well might not be, then they could have Daniels vs. Danielson and build to a rematch if Danielson is able to come into TNA for a run.

The alternate scenario assumes that Joe would be champion defending against Sabu... it ain't happening.

They've talked about Joe vs. Sabu as Joe's first match 'outside the X-Division', so one would think that if Joe is X-Division Champion going into the match with Sabu that it would be non-title. Not that it matters if the match is for the X-Division belt or not, because I don't see Sabu winning anyway.

Unless I heard wrong, Larry Z said that the X-Division Title would be on the line no matter if Joe or Daniels won.
