Google an mp4 encoder - I use one called Videora iPod Converter, but it doesn't automatically mean every conversion of yours will work, since iPod software is constantly upgrading itself to formats.

This program is the only one you need, it can convert pretty much anything to m4v format (including vcd, svcd, divx, xvid, etc.). All you do is unzip the package, run the settings.exe first, pick the Ipod option, and then run the program itself. Pick a directory to store the m4v files in, then you just drag and drop whatever you want to convert into the 3GP window. The only warning I should give is that I dont think the videos will come out too well if you plan to hook up your Ipod to the TV, probably too much compression and pixelation. But for the Ipod itself, it'll do just fine. I've wasted MANY hours at work watching full ROH shows on my Ipod. Hope this helps.
