Dobbs 3K Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 A couple days ago a virus popped up on my computer. I believe I've eliminated most of it. However, I get green links popping up all over text in IE. Any ideas how to find/fix this problem? Norton doesn't seem to be helping. Also, Windows Firewall got turned off by something and I can't access it again. I've since downloaded and installed another firewall program, but it's annoying that something is blocking access to a vital program.
Dobbs 3K Posted April 8, 2006 Author Report Posted April 8, 2006 Well, somehow I got Windows Firewall back on (still using ZoneAlarm, though). I found a way around the link problem in IE...use Firefox. Much less prone to viruses and such, apparently. IE is still messed up though...I get popups almost right away if I boot it up.
Guest Princess Leena Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 First, go through Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. If there's anything strange there that you didn't install, remove them. More things, turn off Microsoft firewall since you already are using another firewall. That can lead to issues. Other than that, try some more antivirus programs. Try Spybot, Ad-Aware, Microsoft Spyware thing for IE.
