Guest Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 According to the house show reports from last night, Edge announced that he'd be having shoulder surgery Tuesday and will be out for "several weeks". Now while I don't especially like Edge, he was having some decent matches and was some new blood at the top of the card. With him out, I wonder what happens, because Smackdown is rather low on faces
Guest Anglesault Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 He was having decent matches with Angle. That means jack shit. He's not a big loss.
Guest Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 >_< Considering how over Edge is, and how many good matches he's had, this is a rather big blow to the Smackdown roster. I guess we can see more HUK HOGNA~! on my tv for a while.
Guest Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 You know WWE motto: When something bad happens, push Test.
Guest Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 Well, I don't wish an injury on Edge. But, since it has happened, one positive result would be RVD going up one spot in the pecking order. One negative (IMHO) - depending on how many weeks Edge means as "several" - might be Benoit's return to the SD roster. SD consistently trails Raw in the ratings, so maybe they can afford his loss even less now.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 You know WWE motto: When something bad happens, push Test. Truly WWE Logic
Guest Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 And here's the double whammy: Not only is he going to be out for several weeks, they're probably only going to half-ass the explanation of WHY he's out for several weeks, and undo all the momentum they had put behind him. Meaning when he comes back, they'll have to start all over. Very ill-timed injury. (Not that it's ever a good time to be hurt). Much like Kane's injury a couple months back at the start of this whole Bland Extention foolishness. Now, with luck they'll bring him back out next week and have him get "injured" in a beatdown to write him out for a while AND give someone else the heat of "taking him out" in a meaningful way and not just Kurt coming out now and saying "oh by the way I took Edge out of action in that match up thingy that we had" in what will look like an obvious cover up. So I guess we won't have our first ever repeat King of the Ring winner after all, huh? :-D
Guest bcu1979 Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 Well, if Edge is going to be out for a while they could accelerate this Jericho face turn they seem to be teasing the last couple weeks. But the WWE seems to think Jericho is more useful playing Vince's fool on tv and jobbing to Hardcore Holly on house shows than as a focal character in main event angles. So I'll also guess that they'll try and turn Test face and give him yet another push. They seemed to tease that on the weekend house shows. Can you imagine....a Test/Triple H tag team?
Guest Black Tiger Posted June 2, 2002 Report Posted June 2, 2002 I just saw the spear off the top that caused him to get hurt. There are only two possible reasons of how he got hurt. 1. He hit Angle wrong, since he was jumping down rather than jumping off this is the most likely reason. 2. Angle was coming too fast and Edge didn't have time to time it correctly. Angle is known for moving fast in the ring but I don't think its the case. What's ironic is that Benoit got hurt around the same time the Edge push started, Benoit comes back and now Edge is hurt. If Edge isn't hurt too badly this could be a blessing for everyone (even Anglesault). If Edge isn't hurt too badly then they can play up the "I took Edge out" bit and Edge and Kurt feud in a "you hurt my arm I'm gonna kick your ass" program, which is much better than Angle vs Hogan.

Guest raptor Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 You know WWE motto: When something bad happens, push Test. Ohh.... a Test push joke... THAT'S FRESH! The way you took a man's injruy and were able to make a TEST JOKE!!! That's so fresh!!! [This has been a "Sarcastic Family Guy" moment, courtesy of the MarkBoard's resident Hurri-Mark, Raptor. Guest Whatmaniac Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Why is it that every time the WWF tries to elevate someone, the wrestler in question goes and gets injured? Edge now joins Kane, Chris Beniot, Spike Dudley, Hardcore Holly, and Rhyno as up and coming talent that sees a huge push negated by injury.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 The sad (or funny in an ironic way) thing is that pushing Edge was probably just about the only plan the WWE had for the summer...and now they can't.
Guest Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 What's ironic is that Benoit got hurt around the same time the Edge push started, Benoit comes back and now Edge is hurt. Ah ha! Further grounds to my "Edge = Chris Benoit" theory from a couple weeks back! Take that, bee-yotch!

How would continuing that feud in a way that could only lead to ANOTHER Edge win be a blessing?

Guest saturnmark4life Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 I'm no edge fan, but he had a good match with test, which the crowd were hugely into by the end...i notice people seem to have jettisoned that point.
Guest Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Aww Damnit! With my luck, Benoit won't be on RAW and will be pushed as a babyface on Smackdown!
Guest Xstasy Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Man, here's hoping Edge gets well... and soon. Damn, Edge/ Angle has been some of the best stuff in the WWE recently. Although alot of that can be attributed to Angle, still Edge has had more than his fair share of great stuff. Ah well, more pushes to go around.
Guest converge241 Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Hopefully we can get him back for Summerslam and have that HHH - Edge match alongside Hogan - Vince.. another Edge - Angle match (ironman anyone?) would be sweet too.

I don't know how, but in some way it's because of her. She's my all-purpose scapegoat for anything and everything that goes wrong, or is evil and/or unfortunate. Up to and including Indian-Pakistani tensions over the Kashmir region. Fair? No. Fun way to cope? Hell yes.
Guest Mole Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 "When something bad happens, push Test." LMAO!! I have been starting to like Edge. I think it is just because Angle has taken him to a new level. Well, Angle is the fuckin man.
Guest Blue Bacchus Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Not only will they Push Test, but they'll blame it all on Jericho
Guest cabbageboy Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 When in doubt, push Van Dam. With Edge hurt is there any other sane alternative? Note that I say SANE alternative.
Guest Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Ohh.... a Test push joke... THAT'S FRESH! The way you took a man's injruy and were able to make a TEST JOKE!!! That's so fresh!!! [This has been a "Sarcastic Family Guy" moment, courtesy of the MarkBoard's resident Hurri-Mark, Raptor. Thanks for your time.] Who said that was a joke? Have you watched WWE at all lately? They'll blame Edge's injury on Angle. Can't you see Triple H saying that Angle can't work a decent match without injurying someone?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 another Edge - Angle match (ironman anyone?) would be sweet too. No, no it wouldn't. For two main reasons. 1) An ironman match means that we would have to see the Angle/Edge feud start again. 2) Angle will carry Edge's ass to a good match and get a "good job son, now put Test over." while Edge will get rewarded.
