Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 17, 2006 Red clay season truly starts this weekend with the Monte Carlo tournament starting. I know nobody cares now, but I figured I'd start this anyway. All comments and questions are appreciated, though. The first one I'll answer already... since when the zillion PTI-like shows start blabbing about it, someone will post. No, Federer is probably not going to win Roland Garros. If he has to play Nadal in the final, chances are very slim Roger wins that. If Nadal loses before that, or get injured, then there's an opportunity. And if an American reaches the 2nd round at RG this year, they'll be happy.
Guest Sylvan Grenier Report post Posted April 17, 2006 Is Gustavo Kuerten still around? He always does well on clay. And always goes "ooh-ahh!"
naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2006 I have Fed winning the French when Nadal gets upset by a journeyman type clay courter in the Semis. The guy that upsets him will shit his pants at the prospect of beating Rog, and the 36 year old streak of no men winning THE Grand Slam will have to wait until London before possibly continuing. On the women's side I was going with JHH, but her recent form makes me think she's not a lock anymore. Kuznetsova, Petrova and Mauresmo could all be major factors, but as long as anyone but Sharapova wins, I'll be fine with the outcome. I don't like clay court season, but once it's over the rest of the year is usually great stuff.
