Does anybody here use gamefly or any other video game rental site? Can you please give me a review of the service and the availibility of games. If you know of any other websites please feel free to mention. Thanks.

I've had it since late December - the service can vary wildly, depending on where you live. Given that your username is NYankees and you've talked about New York in other posts in the sports folder, I'd guess you're probably from that area, which means you could be looking at a particularly nasty turnaround on checkouts/returns; Gamefly only has one inventory center and it's in California.

In all fairness, though, they do have a way to make the return process faster; if you return the game to a post office with the proper scanning equipment, Gamefly will be notified of your return when it hits the post office, rather than when it hits California, and they'll send the next game on your list in advance.

In terms of selection, they have a fairly nice run of the next-generation consoles and, to my surprise, they even have some GBA games. I was able to catch some different games that weren't available at my local video rental stores (like We <3 Katamari, for example). Some of the more popular selections will involve some wait time, though, especially as other users may tend to "sit" on certain games.

The service isn't bad, but there have been plenty of times over the last couple of months where I've considered dropping the service. You might consider trying the 30 day trial service and seeing exactly how long it takes those games to get to your doorstep.

I have the form all filled out for the free 10 game trial. I am just looking to rent rpg's that I dont care for buying. I just want to be able to keep a game for 2-3 weeks and beat it. I really dont care for the turn around factor because this isn't like Netflix for me. Have you used intelliflix or any other video game rental site??? Thanks for the info.

I Agree with him try the 30 day trial. Ive had Gamefly for about 3 years now and i love it. I have to admit i did put up with nasty turn around times, but now most of my games i get in 2 days 3 days max.... I recommend it if you have the patience. Also it helps if your post office has the scannin equipment. Gamefly has saved me a ton of money on games too.

OOO one last question. Would Kingdom Hearts 2 or Suikoden 5 be available for rent now? Those are the two games that I really want to get.

If you're just looking to plow through some RPGs, then Gamefly may actually be right up your alley. You can check out one game at a time for $14.95 a month, which is probably less than the rental costs of just re-renting the same RPG over and over until you beat it.

And yeah, Kingdom Hearts II and Suikoden V are both available now. In fact, virtually all of the new RPGs (Metal Saga, Atelier Iris 2, Tales of Legendia) are all available for immediate rental.

I do online movie rental from Blockbuster and for $18 a month I get 2 free game rentals instore although with nothing even remotely interesting out for the gamecube, I hardly ever use them for games.

I wish one of the online movie rental sites (Blockbuster or Netflix) would offer games as well.

Intelliflix the new rental site offers movies, porn and video games. I believe it is 25 dollars a month and if you prepay for the whole year you can get it for 15 a month.

I just joined and put both of Kingdom Hearts 2 and Suikoden 5 in my querie. Both games went from being available to short wait. I am going to keep my querie empty for other than those 2 games so I can get them when they are available instead of getting some game I really dont want to play.

Hilarious. I checked Gamefly five minutes before my previous post in this thread and they had both of those games listed at "Available Now". I guess they updated their inventory information since then.

Hmm..porn and games. Id never leave the house. For 2 out its $143 a year/$11 a month, which isn't bad. Just for the 2 adult movies it'd be worth it cause that ran me $20 a month when I did it for a short while but Im sure its pretty much the same (long waits, few available titles, long shipping times).

I dont know if I would want to handle used porn dvd's. I can only imagine the amount of dna left on them.

As with all dvds, I stick my finger through the hole instead of grabing around the edges.

I haven't used GameFly but I've heard good things about it. What I can tell you is stay the hell away from GameznFlix. They're awful.

Have you played Tales of Legandia? Is it any good?

I own it and it's my favourite game in the tales series. A lot of people don't like it for one reason or another. It's pretty linear and the storyline is more in depth then normal tales games. It's also fairly long as the main quest takes about 30 hours and the character quests take another 30 hours.

The Short Version: They're awful.

The Long Version:

I signed up and got a 14 day trial. 14 day trial passed and nothing was even shipped. A week or two after they've started to bill me I finally get one damn game shipped (I was paying for the three game at a time plan). The game that arrived was not the one that the website listed as having shipped me. This ended up having several times as they'd say I had games A, B, and C and in reality I'd have games A, Q, and X. At some points I'd get a 4th game in the mail, usually something I had taken off of my list long ago. And of course because their system sucked that 4th game didn't show up on the site. I always made sure to always send one back and not have 4 out so they couldn't try to bill me for 4.

Let's see what else...oh yeah their customer service was awful. I never got any help when I contacted them about my problems. Getting anything that was even semi-popular was near impossible. I'd usually end up with games 20-30 spots down on my preferred list and never got anything that'd come out in the past couple of months.

I'm sure I'm forgetting more fun things from the 9 months or so I stuck with that company. Oh one other item that comes to mind. One day I log into the website and see that my account has been put on hold because they can't get my credit card to go through. (Note that they never sent me any other kind of notification like an e-mail or anything, I only found out after logging onto the site and checking something in my account info.) The site says I have to call them to get it resolved so I do. I explain the situation to the lady and she says ok she'll try to re-run the card and hangs up. She didn't ask for any info on the card such as # or experation date, so at this point i'm 99% sure it's not gonna go through and am getting quite annoyed. A few weeks go by and surprise surprise nothing has been fixed. (And still nothing from them in the form of e-mail or phone call, just the error on my account online). So I call again and thankfully get a smarter employee who re-takes my credit card information. What was the problem? They had my experation date on the card backwards. (If the real one was 03-09 they had 09-03). Why is this there fault and not mine? Because I entered it just fine and they had billed me for several months before the problem started. They somehow managed to flip the number when they were switching to a new system or some bullshit like that.

It was really a bad experience overall. I only stuck with it as long as I did because I'm stubborn.
