Guest Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 So, I'm flipping through the channels and lo and behold- American Gladiators is on TNN. Score. Even better, one of the contestants is none other than Mr. Sideburns himself, Rico Constantino. Of course, I think this is like 1993... Rico is minus the sideburns and he is definitely rocking the mullet. Oh, he's also rocking the Gladiators too. Seeing how he basically owns the Gladiators in virtually every event, its no surprise that this guy ended up making it in wrestling. Still, pretty sweet to actually see the "Rico episodes" of Gladiators on TV.
Guest Frankie Williams Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Is A.G.'s on everyday?? If so what time? I used to love that show. I even went to a show at MSG when they were touring in 1991. Good times.
Guest areacode212 Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 It appears to be on at 2PM EST, because that's when everyone started marking out like mad about Rico in the Gladiators thread in the Movies/DVD/TV folder.
Guest notJames Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 I think Rico become one of the Grand Champions or whatever they call the guy who beat everyone at the end of the season. I saw a picture of Rico on Scaia's site... damn! Makes me sorry I grew up in the 90s (shudder)
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Its from 1990, the 2nd season of American Gladiators, and Rico had funny looking hair. 1990 - Rico was 28. 28 + 12 = 40? He doesn't seem that old.
Guest Brian Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 I thought he was 38 and that's why they decided to bring him up.
Guest papacita Posted June 3, 2002 Report Posted June 3, 2002 Catchphrase-mania begins.... *ahem* Back in 94 or 95, I watched every episode of the American Gladiator reruns that USA used to show...and I actually remember Rico being on there. He gave an ass-busting performance! I think he got a belt too, which I thought was cool.
Guest NoCalMike Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I caught the last 5 minutes or so of today's episode of American Gladiators, just in time to see the Eliminator( I think that is what they call the final event) My question is: Is it the older or newer episodes that have the "spooky" setting for the ASSAULT event? I know they had trees and bushes and a smoke machine going off. Then in another glorious era of American G's they changed the ASSAULT to where it was more looking like building blocks or something. So which era was which??
Guest Smeghead Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Yeah, Rico is 40 or very close to it. JR mentioned this in his Hoss Report a few times. Apparently a lot of people were skeptical about putting him on TV because of his age. (Yet they give Hogan the World Title, but that's a rant for another day.) But JR always pushed him as a great talent, and I can see why. He seems very young and athletic for someone who's near 40.

Guest AnnieEclectic Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 If you want to see *really* classic Rico Constantino, go find a copy of the board game 'Dragon Quest' made by TSR (Wiz? damn...) At some point the guy playing the rougeish elf comes upon two orcs, and tricks his way out of it. But wait... does that orc on the left have sideburns? ...... That's right. It's Rico. Thank god for credit reels at the end of these things... -Annie
Guest Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Rico is listed twice on IMDB the first lists him as being born in 1969, the second lists him as being born in October 1961. I'd say he's 40
