Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 7, 2002 Well Tyson is always a mental case in the ring. I heard the trainers take him off downers 3 days before he fights. I think he can win if he keeps his weight down to 225 so he can be more mobile in the ring.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 7, 2002 or a fan jumping in the ring or something to that effect? Â Now honestly what kind of idiot would want to run into a ring with Tyson inside it? Hell Lewis would kick the shit out of the guy also, but no one is stupid enough to run in with Tyson in there. Because eventhough i believe that Tyson is mainly a big act i think he still has a bit of insanity in his mind. By the way Dreamer must you keep putting those ugly ass pictures under your name. It's bad enough how that Papacita guy has pictures of the man beast, we don't really want to see pictures of the bulldog too.
Guest Report post Posted June 7, 2002 Well I want to see Tyson win just for the mere fact to see what the human train wreck will do when he is champ again. Tyson is like that car crash on the freeway you must stop an take a look. But If Lewis sticks to a gameplan he will no doubt knock Mr TrainWreck out. ButterBean should get the winner. Just Imagine Butter Bean vs Tyson. Oh Man that would be the greatest fight EVER!!
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted June 7, 2002 Lewis weighed in at 249, Tyson weighed in at 234.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 7, 2002 Tyson's second heaviest weight go in the fight so I don't know.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 7, 2002 It's not like he gained 25 pounds of Fat, he looks pretty ripped. I know it's not P.C to say it but I want Tyson to win. Boxing is dead as can be...At least Tyson amusing as opposed to mr Lewis, whom is seriously lacking charisma, almost as bad as Chris Beniot.

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 8, 2002 I wish Tyson would box like he used to box. Seeing him on ESPN Classic leaves me in awe, the same kind of awe I used to feel when watching Ali before he went to jail. Tyson started relying on knockouts and trying to end the fight in one punch. That style won't work because even though Lewis is trying to deny it, he is scared of Tyson. If that scaredness translates into motivation, then Tyson won't be able to land a lucky punch. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 8, 2002 What makes the fight interesting is that each man is the others weakness. Lewis struggles against heavy hitters (at least the first time through) and Tyson is a harder hitter than both Rahman and Mccall put together. On the other hand...Tysons achilles heal is big fighters. Holyfield beat him twice (and yes the second one was DQ...but Tyson was getting whipped)...and Buster Douglas...Buster Douglas is the prototype of a bigger fighter...which Tyson struggles against. Lewis is better than Douglas...and he's better than Holyfield IMO (he beat him twice dammit...screwy judging be damned). So in conclusion...you never know. Tyson has a great shot of winning as long as the fights going...even if hes getting whipped hes just one punch away. He has the ultimate punchers chance...but Lewis is a better fighter IMO. So I think its more important which Lewis shows up than which Tyson. The Lewis knocked out by Rahman? or the Lewis who was focused in the rematch? Cause I don't think Tyson has a prayer against the second one.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted June 8, 2002 I wish we could get a fight between Lewis and the 1980's Tyson.

Yeah I was watching some of that today. Back then I really wasn't into boxing. But after seeing some of those matches WOW man you're right I was in Awe too. So much speed, power and he was headed straight on the tracks but then he got derailed. Then they said how cus said they would fight each other someday. Well that day is tommorrow but too bad it wasn't when both of them were younger.

Guest muzanisa Report post Posted June 8, 2002 Questions for canadian posters. After Lewis lost those two times, did the Canadian press point out his Britishness a lot more than they usually do? Is he still touted as a Canadian fighter over there?
Guest Report post Posted June 8, 2002 Prediction: Tyson-by-knockout-sometime-between-3-5-rounds.If-not,Tyson's-a-goner. Guest Report post Posted June 8, 2002 Over here in Canada, it is pretty much assumed that Lewis is British, seen as somewhat of a traitor, he is always referred to as British, hell if he wants to put on a fake accent that let him be, we Canadians dont need him. Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 8, 2002 I might as well make my prediction... Tyson wins Via Knockout in 5 rounds.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 8, 2002 Jim Ross is gonna be there, why not pay off Vince and get Lawler there too, and have them both do commentary. This fight needs the type of overhyping that only JR and Lawler could bring, and Lawler can even go nuts over the Cardgirls chanting puppies incessantly during the breaks between rounds. The way I see it, Lewis in 10 rounds, but If I even have a clue what happens by tomorrow afternoon I'll be shocked.

Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted June 9, 2002 I was pretty dang close. Lewis wins in 8 via KO. I said Lewis in 10. Im surprised I found out about this, but I got an IM from a friend who was watching it.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted June 9, 2002 Tyson needed to have a real opponent prior to Lewis. He hadn't fought anyone since Holyfield. How about Tyson acting like a normal human after the fight? That was strange.
Guest Report post Posted June 9, 2002 Mike didn't even fight. I bet if he got 2 or 3 more fights to prepare it would have been much better.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 9, 2002 Hopefully this will motivate Tyson and we can get a good fight down the road. Tyson needs to get some quality opposition, a fight against Rahman would be good for him. Could he even beat Rahman? Would he do business with Don King again? Without Mike Tyson heavyweight boxing is dead. Holyfield is 39 and probably winding his career down, he says he wants another shot at the title, if he even gets it does he stand a chance? Rahman might be a flash in the pan, he milked is title run for all he could. Lennox Lewis is 36 and looks to have a stranglehold on the title, how many more years will he be around? Ruiz might be Lewis' next fight, how long will that one last? I might've left some names off, boxing isn't my best sport. So anyone else clue me in on who I've left out. Guest Report post Posted June 9, 2002 There really isn't anyone left in boxing. If Tyson won tonight I think that boxing would start getting more and more popular. Then, if some younger guy knocked Tyson out, he would look good in the eyes of the public.
Guest loose cannon Report post Posted June 9, 2002 This fight really sucked. Lewis is the most boring boxer i have ever seen. All he did was throw jabs for 8 rounds. I watched it at a bar with my friends and we all hated it. I was hoping for a tyson win so they could have done tyson/holyfield 3 since he won his fight. That could have saved the heavyweight division. But with lewis retaining the belts, it's gonna remains the shits.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted June 9, 2002 Now that I think about it, I don't think Tyson will ever be able to draw money again. If the fight wasn't enough to do it(I don't really think it was), his post-fight comments were. He admitted that all the crazy stuff he did was just to generate money. That takes away from his drawing power big time.

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted June 9, 2002 I'm a HUGE Tyson fan, so take that into account. Anyway, I've watched the fight on tape 3 times now, and I still don't get it. Mike just gave up sometime in between the third and fourth round. After coming out strong -- jabbing, moving his head, bouncing on his toes -- Mike just stood there for the last half of the fight and let Lennox tee off on him. Like the announcers kept saying, it was target practice. I think Mike knew he wasn't really ready to fight Lewis yet, and after he figured out he wasn't going to get the quick KO, he just reserved himself to defeat. That being said, someone in Tyson's corner should have been tougher with him. Instead of pleading with him to throw punches, his trainer should have got up in his face and cussed him out. Take Mike back to the early days, and tell him "You're fucking Iron Mike Tyson. You should not be getting your ass beat by some big Jamaican motherfucker." Shit, maybe he should have slapped Mike to wake him up. Sure, Mike may have swung at him, but someone needed to wake his ass up. Okay, now that I've got that out...Tyson needs two more fights before any rematch with Lewis. Fight someone with a sturdy chin first, like a Ray Mercer. Then fight someone upper-ecehlon like Rahman, Klitschko, or Kirk Johnson. Then fight Lewis. Thing is, Lewis may have retired by then.
