Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 29, 2006 If JBL was given the impartial GM character, he could really make it work... but, I doubt WWE does that. He's been heel for so long, and an awesome heel, why would they change?
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Whoever it is, Vince needs to understand that the "heel" GM" gimmick is so fucking old and tired. If anything, we just need a guy who stays backstage in his office and makes matches according to the shenanigans going on in the ring, and not cutting deals with the newest "flavor of the month" heel. The problem that arises from this is , if you have an impartial general manager, what exactly changes from what we have now? Matches are currently based on storylines, so what do you really gain from an impartial general manager? With an impartial General Manager who only appears on camera for certain points, you gain the following: 1)Authority being recognized without it being in your face week in and week out 2)No siding with one group or another 3)Whenever the GM appears, it's for something very important...not to stroke his/her own ego, thus possibly making you look FORWARD to him/her coming out. I think a general manager would make his presence known on a weekly basis, and I doubt it is once a show. Once a half-hour is probably more likely. Aside from that, Vince McMahon pretty much already fiils that role and has filled it on RAW the past few weeks. Any general manager that is put on the roster will be partial to one side of the other. Dusty Rhodes would be slanted towards the faces and Eric Bischoff or JBL would be slanted towards the heels. I could stand JBL as he would atleast be decent on the mic. jester 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 The problem with GMs in general (Face, Heel, or Impartial) is that they tend to make the wrestlers look weak, in my opinion. If Wrestler X has wronged you, you don't go begging to the GM to make it right, or to give you a match where you can get payback. If you're a strong character, you harass the wrestler that pissed you off until both parties agree to have a showdown.
Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Jack Tunney would beg to differ. He was a really good "authority figure", IMO. WWE only had him intervene once in a while to do something serious and it always felt alot more "official" when he made a decision.
tominator89 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Vince will officially name himself GM. Agreed.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 29, 2006 My cheddar is still on the "'Merican Dweem" Dussy Rowes. If you wheel. Honestly, I don't think I'd have anything against Dream as the GM.
RepoMan 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Why is everbody do high on dusty rhodes? He sucked as a g.m. and booker in tna! Also i can never understand what the hell he issaying with all that heavy breathing, spit/saliva coming out of his mouth People liking old fat pieces of shit = Nostalgia. The only real experience I have with Dusty was when he was a color man for WCW, and he iritated the hell out of me. Coach could be entertaining. Still wish Bishoff had the role, and it'd be incredibly non-sensical to bring him back, but that's never stoped WWE before.

That's the fault of the booking/writing using the "GM/Evil Owner/Authority figure" as a crutch. A guy like Jim Cornette in OVW was brilliant in a similar role. Bishoff, Lawler, and Michael Cole would make a great team for Raw IMO. I just think Bishoff and Lawler are so distinct, that it would add some flavor to the show. Ross/Lawler after awhile just seem like 1 person bc they've been there like 10 yrs.
