MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 I got this from this thread You get: TC Premier All Para Todos programming HD programming All sports packages ALL pay-per-views (100% of PPV Classifications) XM Music Channels Playboy TV RSN channels Setanta Sports Subscription to ON DIRECTV magazine NO lease or add't rec fees No DVR Fee Free custom VIP installation Free in-home service calls and equipment replacement WordDirect and Cricket are avaiable to Titanium customers should they request it, due to the installation requirement of the add'l dish, this is by request only. Titanium package is billed ANNUALLY, not monthly. You MUST pay in advance with a credit card It is going to be tied in somehow with the new movie "Superman Returns". The reports from yesterday where correct: The Introductory offer price is going to be $7,500.00. So um..yeah. All the PPV you can watch (which is assumed to include stuff like wrestling/boxing/adult ppv) and all the sports packages..but um. $7,500 a year is pretty steep ($625/month).. I currently pay $65 for an HD Tivo with TC+ and the HD Channels. I can't afford it..duh..but if I had the money..hmm. Id need about 5 more HD-Tivos just for the porn. Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2006 I'd never pay that much for TV. I hate satellite, but it's not hard to get free DirectTV. Where I live, I can't get it though. They run the same porn every few days, or at least it seemed like it when I visited a house that had free DirectTV.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted June 3, 2006 That's ridiculous... how could you ever watch enough to justify $625/month? Even if you got Spice, or whatever every night... and the usual PPV's... it still wouldn't come out to that much.

I think the adult PPVs are $11 for like 90 minutes, I've never rented any of it cause its a ripoff..it'd add up, not to mention here coming up soon when you have 3 wrestling PPVs in a month ($120 right there..)..and you get NFL Sunday Ticket which is like $300 right now for what amounts to 4 months, and the other Sports packages which are close to $200 now. Granted, its definitely not worth $625 a month..but its interesting anyway in a "things Id do if I made a lot more money than I do now" sense.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 3, 2006 I understand paying a premium for such a service, but that seems excessive. I'd like to see how that yearly price compares to the prices of the same services purchased monthly.

Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Digital never goes out. Satellite, at least from my experiences, does. I don't need to get some stuff 3 hours early.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Digital never goes out. From who? God's cable company? Cable goes out for days at a time. Satelitte's back the second the storm's over. Most of the time people are having satelitte trouble, its because their dish isn't aligned correctly. It was storming all week here, and I didn't loose my signal once. Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2006 My Charter cable has never gone out, in the 5 years that I've had it. If it has gone out, nobody was here. Unlikely though. I'm sure other people's cable goes out, it would be ignorant to say that it just doesn't happen.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Apparently cable companies in the midwest just don't give a fuck. Bad picture, shitty channel line-up, service went out, equipment problems...I had plenty of reasons to switch to DirecTV. On the other hand, though, DirecTV's HD package is absolute crap. Bad picture, shitty channel line-up, service went out, equipment problems...I had plenty of reasons to switch to DirecTV. On the other hand, though, DirecTV's HD package is absolute crap. If by crap you mean that there arent enough channels, all I can say is there are only like 3 or 4 other national HD channels right now that Directv doesn't have, and they dont really have the bandwith to carry them now but given some time they'll have tons of HD Channels. If you mean the supposed horrible picture quality of HD on Directv..granted nothing on Directv looks as good in HD as it does with HD that I get OTA via an antenna, but its still light years better than the standard definition stuff. And, the only channel and time I ever see really bad picture problems is NBA games on TNT (along with their stretch-o-vision, but thats another problem) and Im beginning to think thats a TNT problem because NBA games on ESPN look much better.. And for the record, I've lost the sat signal a couple of times for a couple minutes, but I've only lost the sat signal about 3 or 4 times for longer than 10 minutes, and one of those times was in the middle of a hurricane and the power went out soon after so it didnt matter. The only thing thats pissing me off royally right now is the fact that Directvs new HD-DVR thats supposedly being released this summer wont be a TIVO model. I've had my HD-Tivo now for about a year now and its the greatest thing ever, but when Directv switches HD compression formats (Mpeg2 ---> Mpeg4) then it pretty much becomes a $499 doorstop as it wont be able to receive or record HD. Directv's own DVR boxes, from all I've heard about them so far, are utter crap. And there are more Directv customers with Tivos (2.7 million) than there are with stand alone Tivos (1.5 million) so it just befuddles me that Tivo and Directv couldn't iron out some sort of compromise to keep releasing new Tivo boxes for Directv although its more Tivo's problem than Directv's. razazteca 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 I seen the porn channels and its not that great unless you are a fan of the PRIVATE company which is good if you like porn with plots like vampire egyptian succubus and people speaking languages other than english. I find more entertainment in Jerry Springer Exposed specials than the generic skinny blond porn which is sold in blocks from http://www.ten.com or the Playboy Channel which shows nothing but Stripper contests all day. So what you're saying is that you don't have an HDTV? Because if you did, I'm pretty sure you'd know its not a scam.

(1) The programming on the networks I do get (with the exception of the 3 channels that are just HD versions of regular cable channels) generally consists of old cancelled TV shows and movies that look like 480p DVDs. (2) They've been promising me more channels for almost a year now. They need to get their asses moving on that. (3) You need an antenna to get local channels, and the only way to watch major network programming is through local affiliates. Thus, what the hell do I even need DirecTV HD for it all I needed was an antenna? This is especially frustrating because the only networks that have affiliates with signals strong enough to reach my house are CBS, UPN, and FOX.

I was declined.
