Guest Cataclysm911 Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 If Bob Holly doesn't get wins at house shows, where does he get wins at? I really, really, really don't see the problem. God forbid some of the WWE employees not mind laying down. Bob Holly NEEDS a win? I would like to think that every active wrestler needs wins. Aren't you more entertained during a match when you don't know who is going to win? I see nothing wrong with Hardcore Holly winning a couple of matches. At house shows nonetheless. Fuck, I wouldn't care if he won the goddamn WWE Undisputed Title, I would still just watch to be entertained. That is where you and me differ I guess. I can watch it and accept what happens.
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 It doesn't. It's all about entertaining the fans. And Bob Holly has entertained fans...when? You don't think that he has fans?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Well, he gets the hometown pop, but aside from that, no. And how exactly is Bob Holly entertaining?
Guest treble charged Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 I'd like to remind everyone that Angle/Venis was in Narnia, Canada and not Toronto, and Jericho/Holly was in some completely different sate than Alabama. And Holly is heel. Narnia? I think you mean Sarnia. You don't need to go through a wardrobe to get into Canada.

The world where Venis beats Angle clean with his own finisher should be the world of make believe.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Again- IT WAS A HOUSE SHOW!!!!!!! It was several shows
Guest Anglesault Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 But why do it several times for no real reason? (It wasn't his hometown, and that excuse is bullshit anyway)
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Again, it's a house show. Like Kahrun Rasmus said, HHH was jobbing clean at house shows during his heel 2000 run. Repeat with me children. If it didn't happen on tv, it didn't happen in the wrestling world. And when was the last time I saw Bob Holly be entertaining? When Angle did the arm-breaking moonsault of death and Holly was forced to finish the match and protect himself.
Guest Human Fly Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 The houseshow Hardcore Holly jobs are just further examples of Jericho being buried. (You've got to include recent tv weeks as well in this). Houseshows maybe houseshows but Jericho is above Holly, when was the last time Holly was a contender for the IC title? (I know the IC title is on the Raw show, but you've got to go back a few years.) If I see Hogan lose to the Godfather or HHH lose to Rico at next week's house shows I won't have a problem with this, but I doubt it will happen.
Guest bcu1979 Posted June 4, 2002 Report Posted June 4, 2002 Again, it's a house show. Like Kahrun Rasmus said, HHH was jobbing clean at house shows during his heel 2000 run. . I would have liked to have been at one of those house shows. Seeing Triple H do a clean job is one of those once-in-a-lifetime type events. I went to a WWF house show in the summer of 2000. Rock was champ and the main event was Rock/Triple H in a cage match. There must have been half a dozen ref bumps and numerous visual pinfalls on Rock while the ref was down. It was like, just do the damn job already. Watching a match on tv with numerous ref bumps is bad enough. But on a house show that supposedly means nothing, it's just ridiculous.
Guest Risk Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 How can house shows rock? Nothing every changes on them and there are rarely any good matches nowadays. The most you can expect are several hardcore title changes, a mid-carder vs. a maineventer, jobber vs. jobber matches, and the audience trying to believe it is important.
Guest bob_barron Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 I'm going to a house show later this month and it sounds fun. Apparently all the matches are longer and you generally have clean finishes and see stuff you wont see on TV.

Much as I'm a fan of Jericho and hate seeing him look like less and less of a worthy contender for anything, if you want to elevate someone like Hardcore Holly (why? who knows?), putting him over Jericho is a pretty good start, especially to test a fan reaction in nowhere house-show land where matches mean nothing and titles never change... Actually, I think it'd be a funny angle if they had a fluke victory on TV for somebody like Crash Holly, then have them go to nowhere house-show land and defend the title against guys who would kill them on TV, then go on TV and brag about it
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 How can house shows rock? Nothing every changes on them and there are rarely any good matches nowadays. Its not important, but the wrestling is better, the matches are much longer, and there are clean finishes in almost every match. I watch wrestling for wrestling, not for 30 minute promos and five (10 if you attend a RAW or Smackdown live) 3 minute matches.
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 "I would have liked to have been at one of those house shows. Seeing Triple H do a clean job is one of those once-in-a-lifetime type events." I actually went to one of those. February 2000 in Davis, CA. The main was Rock and Rikishi vs X-Pac and HHH. They did around a 10 minute match. HHH jobbed clean to the people's elbow. No run ins. No foriegn objects. Just laying down after a people's elbow. This was during HHH's run with the title in the middle of the Cactus Jack feud. That job didn't hurt HHH one bit. Because it wasn't on tv. Key words- WASN'T ON TV!!!!!
Guest Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 Jericho is only losing these matches to Bob Holly at the recent house shows, because his scheduled opponent was Edge and Edge was supposed to go over Jericho on these shows, but he got injured and couldn't wrestle. This has happened numerous times before. Also, Jericho's opponent for KOTR was most likely Edge, so that is why they were having these matches to begin with on house shows. Since, Edge was supposed to go over Jericho on all of these house shows, it looks like Jericho was going to beat Edge at KOTR, before he got injured.
Guest the pinjockey Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 I will wait and see what happens on SD before deciding how important this stuff was. I think it is crap that they would use the hometown excuse, but it was just house shows so whatever. If they were in Alabama that is one thing but you don't get a three state radius around your state. If on SD Jericho does something important and looks to be in an actual angle I will write off the jobs as being meaningless and move on but if he is wrestling Holly on SD or doing something equally crappy with Farooq or Henry I am going to be seriously pissed the fuck off.
Guest Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 I'm sure you all will agree that Jericho jobbing at a house show is by far not as bad as cheating to beat Mark Henry or one half of the APA. Anyone disagree with this?
Guest the pinjockey Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 Certainly struggling with Farooq and Henry is worse than jobbing on a house show to Holly. The deal with this(if it means anything which I won't say YET), IMO, is that when there are no other signs of light with Jericho's future it is another thing to add on to the growing pile of bullshit.
Guest Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 This goes against everything I stand for in the name of wrestling, but I feel that the only way Jericho could be saved is via a face turn. I petitioned long and hard for the Jericho heel turn, but now that he got it............he's become an even less factor than he was as the annoying uber face.
Guest Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 Anyone who complains about wrestlers doing jobs at house shows are just whiny bitches, looking for a reason to bitch.
Guest TheHulkster Posted June 5, 2002 Report Posted June 5, 2002 The houseshow Hardcore Holly jobs are just further examples of Jericho being buried. (You've got to include recent tv weeks as well in this). Houseshows maybe houseshows but Jericho is above Holly, when was the last time Holly was a contender for the IC title? So basically, you are just asking for Jericho to play a bullshit political game to screw over Bob Holly out of a win at a House Show? That would be pretty low of Jericho. Some of you bitch about politics so much, yet still insist on a pecking order which is basically the fuel backstage politics are run on. Who, besides a smark, honestly gives a shit if Jericho jobs to Bob Holly at a House show, on Smackdown, or on Velocity? Jericho probably doesn't even give a shit, he gets paid the same for being in the main event either way.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 If they were in Alabama that is one thing but you don't get a three state radius around your state. Why not? According to the WWE Canada is basically one big state. "He's from Winnipeg? We're in Toronto, put him over!" Although I don't deny Jericho's status as Conspiracy Victim 2K2, I still say this is such a silly thing to get worked up about.
Guest Human Fly Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 "Anyone who complains about wrestlers doing jobs at house shows are just whiny bitches, looking for a reason to bitch." It's not just the house show though (which I've been trying to say) it's a combination of everything and this tops it off. To the people that came to the defense of Holly I'm not trying to say he doesn't deserve wins, everybody does. But when Hardcore already had one win that night it wasn't neccessary for him to go over Jericho. Why not book someone else to fight Jericho if the WWE is so worried about protecting Holly? "So basically, you are just asking for Jericho to play a bullshit political game to screw over Bob Holly out of a win at a House Show? " No I never said anything about Jericho playing any kind of backstage game. I'm saying the the office or whoever you want to call them should take better advantage of Jericho then jobbing him out for the past few months. If they want to build someone else up that might lessen the blow, but all these are doing is tearing Jericho down more.

Guest RicFlairGlory Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 Blah blah blah blah blah Its a House Show. This happens once a month it seems, (insert big superstar) jobbed to (midcarder or lower) like two times at a show that maybe 4500 people saw who gives a fuck?
