Guest RicFlairGlory Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 the orginal dx, with micheals was the best faction ever, those 5 months of tv were the best tv the wwf ever put on. And as for those buyrates, thats not justafiable because wcw was destroying them. As much as I am a flair fan, and he is my favorite wrestler, the best shit was the original dx, not the 4 horsemen. You guys remember the face guards with the wipers, hahaha --Rob Yeeeah boy Hold on, hold on, this isnt workin!
Guest RetroRob215 Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 The buyrates mean nothing. Compare the mid-card feuds/matches from the mid 90's to the late 90's. Anyone with half a brain would know that you can't even conisder comparing them. It takes more than one wrestler to lead a company. Steve Austin had a great supporting cast, Shawn Michaels had a whole lot of shit to work with. In the end, if it wasn't for Shawn Michaels there would be no Steve Austin and no WWE.
Guest Some Guy Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 I didn't attribute all of the 98 turn around to HBK but you can not argue that he didn't have great impact in the shift in attitude of the WWF. He started DX, was able to get over as both a heel and face, put on tremendous matches with Taker while Austin was hurt and then put Austin over cleaner than Austin has put anyone over for the title. Shawn carried the ball when Bret went to Canade to cry in 96 and then carried it when Austin hurt his necck and Bret went to WCW, he was the onlt thing in 95 worth watching.
Guest Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 It's called an accurate analogy, use one next time. RVD/Guerrero = direct effect on ratings. HBK = No effect. Why? Cause HBK was too far removed from the success the Wwf had after he left. Sure, next time I'll be sure to use a rabbit and grass instead. Thanks!
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted June 6, 2002 Report Posted June 6, 2002 He started DX, was able to get over as both a heel and face, put on tremendous matches with Taker while Austin was hurt and then put Austin over cleaner than Austin has put anyone over for the title. I'm sure Shawn never tapped out to ANYBODY during his last two years which Austin did at Unforgiven last year to Kurt Angle. And about putting Austin over at WM 14, Steve was already a superstar, he didn't need any sort of rub from HBK at that time. And since whoever was champion was jobbing to Austin anyway, the fact that HBK did it is rendered moot.
Guest Brian Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 Bret put over Austin. Period. If Bret hadn't done what he did for Austin during the Summer of 1997, it wouldn't have happened. Plus, Shawn might not have jobbed (and it took alot of convincing) if he hadn't thought that in the back of his mind, he'd be back to get his job.
Guest Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 I couldn't believe that some people on this site couldn't even wait for the segment to end before bitching on the board. It seems as there's almost a bit of pride here on not marking out when the WWEGH tries to create a mark-out moment... You know what I mark out for? Good wrestling. Until Michael Shawn Hickenbottom gives me that, he's just another Jurassic Park rehashed dinosaur waiting to cause trouble. And there is no comparison between Austin and HBK when it comes to their impact on wrestling. Austin revolutionized the sport. HBK was barely able to keep his company afloat. VERY WELL SAID....Let's get some wrastlin' on the tv and then we'll see if he's worth bringin' back!
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted June 7, 2002 Report Posted June 7, 2002 I find it funny that all the HBK fans have started treating people who didn't mark out when his washed up ass came back as the Anti-Christ himself.
