BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2006 From PWinsider.com The Miz announced Rey Mysterio vs. Gregory Helms for tonight's show. JBL came out in his limo and said he was the new voice of Smackdown, calling himself Mr. Ratings. Rey Mysterio vs. Gregory Helms - Rey's shoulder was taped up. JBL threw his hat at Rey when they were on the floor. Rey pinned him after a springboard legdrop in a good back and forth match. Booker T vs. Bobby Lashley - Finlay and Regal jump Lashley as he's coming to the ring. They triple team him. Gunnar Scott and Matt Hardy run out to protect him. Backstage, Bobby Lashley told the trainer to get his injured knee ready because he's going to get his hands on Booker. Ken Kennedy defeated Nick Berk. They announced Great Khali vs. The Mexicools. Backstage, Psicosis told Super Crazy he had his back. They aired a Sylvan video. His new gimmick is Ambassador of Quebec. It was designed to look like a vacation promotional video. The Mexicools vs. Great Khali - After several minutes, Psicosis walked out on Crazy, leaving him to be pinned. Miz interviewed Ashley for winning the bikini contest. She introduced the next match. Matt Hardy & Gunnar Scott vs. Finlay & William Regal - Finlay pinned Scott after hitting him with the club. Good match. The Leprechaun attacked everyone after the match until Finlay tossed him back under the ring. Backstage. Teddy Long told Booker T he's going to wrestle Lashley tonight. They aired a Batista return video. Michael Cole interviewed Chavo Guerrero. Cole said that Rey asked Chavo to come out of retirement and what was his response. Chavo didn't respond with a clear yes or no. Mark Henry came out. Henry said that its a shame he doesn't wrestle anymore because he'd show Chavo how he shortens and ends careers. He started insulting Rey. Chavo got in his face so Henry attacked him and laid him out. Backstage, Michelle McCool started insulting Ashley. Ashley challenged her to a bikini showdown and McCool said she wouldn't do it in front of the New Jersey lowlifes. Ashley told her to stop acting like she was teaching class and find some class instead. McCool walked off. Vito in a blue dress pinned Scott Wright. In the main event, Bobby Lashley pinned King Booker Booker's antics and Finlay/Regal as a team make this better than ECW already. Hey, Rey won. Good for him. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2006 With Booker jobbing, I hope it means he will be winning the Title at GAB. But it's likely Mark Henry will get the title instead. I'm not a critizer of Mark Henry like most people here, but I do believe they are fucking stupid, if they give him the belt. Espically since Booker T is the most over heel on the fucking show, and he is better then Mark Henry in every aspect of Pro Wrestling. Man watching the way the WWE are running things, it makes me want to stop paying attention to wrestling all together. Lashley is the future of the WWE though, and if he doesn't main event Wrestlemania 23, then their are big problems within the WWE.
Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2006 Good lord I don't even know if I can bring myself to watch. If ECW is back, it needs to be the 2nd brand. Smackdown can no longer run on its own. If Batista came back next week, Taker wrestled full time. Benoit and JBL were healthy and pushed, and Orton stayed, I still don't know if it would be enough. Foshi 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2006 I was there, so I figured I'd put my two cents in: Funaki and Simon Dean wrestled in a dark match. Standard. Mysterio/Helms was quite good. Even though he lost, Helms came out looking really good. Very evenly paced match. I never realized how over Kennedy is(as a face). The easy route would be just to push him as a face, but I think the whole "Kennedy, Kennedy" thing will wear its welcome eventually and so they should keep him at the heel/tweener level he's at. He definitely has in-ring charisma though. French is the most over heel on Smackdown with regard to Sylvan's promo. Mexicools were decently over. The crowd pretty much sat on its hands in silence during the match though. Khali is tremendously boring and even the younger Smackdown crowd doesn't seem to be into him. Tag match was really old school with Matt Hardy playing Ricky Morton. It was really stiff on all ends. Finlay gave one particular shot to the ribs that echo'd throughout the arena. Good match. Not that he ever was Benoit, but Henry really just looked nothing but fat in person. He also bores me to tears and I cringe any time someone(especially Chavo) has to be in the ring with him. If nothing else, Henry gets more heat than Khali. Probably because he's depleting the roster. I think Trenton's too far south for the crowd to accept Vito's chosen lifestyle. The match was really, really boring and the whole dress thing just screams time filler. Main event was pretty long. Another old school match with Booker dominating the entire thing and Lashley pulling a Bulldog powerslam out of nowhere at the end. I really miss Velocity. It's bad enough we don't get to see the tag champs on tv, now not even in person. But really, I guess I wouldn't want to sacrifice seeing Vito in a dress just to see Kendrick and London. Jebus 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 I'm watching Smackdown one day earlier in Canada and I've gotta say...JBL is awesome as the color commentator! Maybe it's cause it's been forever since we've had a true heel commentator but damn, he's good. Even putting over talent like Helms with his comments. Not since the heydays of the Brain and pre-Attitude Lawler have I seen someone so biased...I love it!

Not since the heydays of the Brain and pre-Attitude Lawler have I seen someone so bias...I love it! Sounds good. Now I really want to see Booker do a guest commentary spot. Him and JBL, not letting Cole talk, bringing up their GWF days, and just the possible banter between the two, could make nearly any match watchable.
benn 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 This week's Smackdown was really good. JBL on commentary is absolutely fucking fantastic. I was pissing myself when he got all excited over Finlay's leprechaun and kept talking shit about Matt Hardy and Lashley and listing all the things that might be under Vito's dress. Loved it. He even had Michael Cole laughing. The wrestlers were a lot stiffer than in typical WWE matches, was a lot better to watch. Regal and Finlay work brilliantly as a tag team too. All that was missing was a London and Kendrick match or promo.
