Which is why i'm not going to even bother with his clueless argument that Iraqi citizens should be treated as the equivalent of a 10 year old boy.

Slayer, America is one of the freest nations in the world, but that dosen't disqualify the actions of its leaders over the past 50 years.

Why do you believe that the US has the right to decide when to leave rather than what the Iraqi people want?

It has yet to be proven the majority of the Iraqi people want us to leave right away.

We should leave when their government asks us to leave, which has yet to happen.

Exactly. If the US were to leave right now, the entire nation of Iraq would become completely destabilized, and become like Afghanistan was in 2001.

justpassinby didnt care to respond to all those quotes of Republicans opposing Bill Clinton's military action against Kosovo...funny that. How is it patriotic to support warfare only when your political party of choice is in charge?

On a personal note, I have had at least one good friend in Iraq since 2003...in about a month the last friend will be back home (hopefully) for good. After a brief reprieve from worrying it will get tough next year when my younger brother ships out to the desert. Too often it is forgotten that war has a 100% victim rate in that even our soldiers who are thankfully left physically unharmed will carry emotional scars of what they saw and whatthey had to do for as long as they live. Sad as it is to comprehend, it is necessary to think about this stuff when dealing with the war in Iraq...it provides a far different, and more painfully realistic, perspective than to simply wrap yourself in a flag and insult the supposed lack of patriotism of those Americans who disagree with this war.

Its really easy for someone to disregard people as hippies who blindly wish for peace...it is just as retarded to blindly support whatever decisions a chosen political administration makes and label it 'patriotism'.

You keep living in your own little world where the US Government is the cause of every problem in the world (though they are the reason for the Iraq war) and reading Chomsky you sterotype that makes me ashamed to have liberal viewpoints.

Do you post on Democratic Underground, because you would totally fit over there (no joking either)

In other words, just give it up already. I do think we need to leave Iraq. The thing is though, that we can't leave right away, because if we do, then things will not somehow get instantly better. These things take time, and while the US Government is going to have to clean up the mess they have made, they are going to need some time to clean it up completly, and leaving right away is not going to do that: it's only going to create more chaos and disorder.

*sigh*

The point I was making was that it's not for the US to decide such things.

Yes, you said that repeatedly, and it's also been stated that the Iraqi government hasn't asked the US to leave, either. So what's your point?

Honestly, why does C-Bacon continue to post here? Even some of the most hardcore lefties here probably find him annoying, and he doesn't offer anything except for blame the U.S. for every bad thing that happens today.

Leftist foreigners with no stake in this fight are entitled to their opinions.

C-Bacon's just enjoying the freedoms and priviledges afforded him by the American government, even though he lives in a country that has neither freedom of speech nor developed the internet.

How dare him blame the US for the war in Iraq!

He should blame the U.S.government, not the U.S. itself.

I'm going to guess that's what he was implying...

Ok then. Sorry I'm not a C-Bacon fan.

Can I at least critisize his Disillusioned Intellectual schikt?

I would like to have seen George W. Bush face off with Ronald Reagan in a taxpayers' spending spree. One of those '70s game show hosts with impeccable teeth could host.

This is why it's a futile endeavor trying to argue with lovecraft (or Invader for that matter). Even the simplest concepts can be taken out of context or totally misinterpreted.

No, it's a futile effort because you feel you're superior because of your "progressive" thinking.

This was a fun quote that was sadly overlooked

Though I'm not sure what that last part means

In all fairness, the US people were pretty heavily in favor of the war back in '03, too.

That was CronoT.

How the hell did I become C-Bacon's biggest defender?

Canada sucks.

Whew, that's better.

Yeah, Jerk, so what if Al Gore isn't Canadian?

Given the information (or lack thereof) they were receiving at the time, it's not too surprising. That said, I firmly believe most Americans are good people.

Canada sucks.
