And how stupid was the Ivory-Jackie-Linda segment considering that they already SAW the match that they were hyping (because Velocity matches are taped before Smackdown tapings, for the stupid ones)!

Wait a second Mitchel Cole, wouldn't Triple H be up on Hogan techinically, since Hogan's win at Backlash happened because of Undertaker's interference, while Hunter pinned Hogan cleanly tonight?

Liked the Taker & Angle beat-down at the end. Hopefully Angle can get something **1/2 or over out of Hogan- if you can't have a good match with Angle, you mine as well hang up the fucking boots now.

I wish I could have seen Damaru's "HHH destroyed Jericho's credibility" sign, but unfortunately it seems as if the damn producers edited it out on TV just because HHH is a face.  Bleh, biased hypocrites.

Smackdown was pretty decent this week. I tuned out before the main event came on but everything else was entertaining for the most part.

 

I thought Nidia was worthless from the moment they announced her name as Tough Enough I winner. But her promo was great tonight. Jamie Knoble/Nidia as the redneck trash couple of the WWE sounds like a lot of fun and has tons of potential. I also liked how they are making the Hurricane a little more serious and less goofy. It was a nice touch for him to break character during the backstage skit.

 

Good segment with Jericho and Edge. I was happy to see Jericho finally get a serious beatdown on someone. I know plans change daily but I guess the WWE expects Jericho to stick around for a while if they are building for a future feud between him and Edge.

 

King of the World? Well, if it leads to King Jericho then I guess it's alright. Has anyone called Jericho a "Living Legend" recently? Wonder if Vince decided to back down to Zbysko after he filed all those lawsuits.

 

I groaned when I read the spoilers about Tajiri and Maven but Tajiri is just too entertaining. They finally dropped that stupid gimmick that he can't speak English as well.

 

Good match between Storm and Kidman! I hated the set-up but both of them looked really good in there.

 

Jericho and Angle look strong...Storm gets airtime...cruisers all over the show...T&A galore...sounds like a Heyman show. Well, besides the main event angle.

 

When did Hardcore Holly turn face? A few weeks ago he was Vince's personal enforcer. Now, he's supposed to be a sympathetic character because Angle broke his arm 2 years ago.

 

I could see pushing Holly as a midcard heel act who Vince uses to beat people up. He's a solid wrestler who can have good matches with wrestlers better than him. But I don't see any future in Holly as a face. His catchphrase is awful and that charisma transplant still has not come through.

 

Rikishi and the AGT need to be relegated to Velocity with Albert, Mark Henry and the rest of the crap. Put the tag titles on Storm/Test w/ Dawn Marie and see where that leads.

Nidia was great in her role as was Hurricane and Noble who I hope they give the mic time soon... Hogan/HHH was good but I wish it was a Jericho that Hogan was putting over rather than someone already over...  Disappointed that Christian jobbed but I think Heyman is going to use him well down the road...  Angle/Holly was way better than I would have imagined but I would have Holly drop the bleached hair so he stops looking like he should be with Billy and Chuck, let his hair go dark and go back to being "Big Shot" Bob Holly which was way more reflective of his personality than the Hardcore tag...

 

Tajiri was awesome in that sketch and Maven is developing well as a personality also, maybe he will be the next Rock???  Tajiri though needs to be pushed to the top of the card because he has the skills, movesets and character to be entertaining and over, kind of the WWE's Jackie Chan, maybe he would even get movie parts???  Good promo by Edge and the Jericho angle definitely came from Heyman it seems...

 

Cole and Tazz need to be replaced!  I'm sorry, I do like the blue lighting they have over the crowd though, it gives the show a fresh look, have they had that since the set change?  I just noticed it tonight.

I'm a happy man... and even happier because I skipped the main event for a much more interesting program: HeldDOWN!

 

Although her introduction through the "ex-girlfriend" angle was a little shaky and unbelievable, I liked Nadia's segment, and it ONLY took a year to get her on TV.  Plus, Jamie Knoble still gets his introduction, y'all, as Nadia's new beau.  I'm cool with that.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the Edge/Jericho altercation was really great as well... say what you will about Edge, but now at least he's cut one undeniably good promo as a singles star.

Well, I'd like to be watching Smackdown, except my New York affilaite UPN is currently showing George 'Duh, I Can't Spell' Bush's stupid-ass speech like EVERY OTHER FUCKING CHANNEL! What exactly is the mother fucking point of putting the same speech on FIVE OUT OF SIX OF THE MOTHER FUCKING BROADCAST CHANNELS! Are viewers going to go watch the one with the bottom graphic they like the most? I mean fucking hell, just put on Smackdown and let the people who want to see the speech go to CBS, NBC, FOX, or ABC- it's not like anyone watches UPN for the news anyway. Geez. I hate America.

Case in point...the Edge/Jericho confrontation.

 

During Edges promo the crowd noise sounded like it had been magnified...it was fuzzy and (if the people you can see on camera in the crowd are to be taken into account) the noise stayed constant even when the crowd APPEARED silent.

 

Then Jericho came out and the noise sounded muffled.  

 

WHATZUPWITDAT?

 

Please...someone who taped it watch this for me and tell me what the hell was going on.

HHH had 1 successful title defense.  And he pinned his girlfriend in that match.

 

Hogan at least got a win over Jericho.

 

And Taker beat RVD and Orton.

I only caught the part of the show when Tajiri went to the hospital. One of the best skits he's been in since debuting as Regal's manservant/slave/butler guy. From what I've heard, it was a pretty good show, as long as Heyman's got the book, I might have to tune in. Just a sidenote - I haven't watched Smckdown since the split, I get the channel and everything, but I've watched Raw every week. You'd think Vince's plan to load the rosters would pay off, but this is the guy who bombed three of the biggest angles this year....

thats just like me, i used to at least tape smackdown (its on sat nite here, so fuck watching it live), but lately i havent even bothered doing that, and it hasnt really bothered me at all.  for all the star power on smackdown, imo the raw brand is working much better now, as the same people dont need to fulfil their quota of tv time every week.

You always hear about Heyman wanting to book a 'Mickey & Mallory' (Natural Born Killers) couple, and it looks like Nidia & Knoble are it. Hey, I can't wait.

 

Where was Randy Orton last night? Does he have a match on Velocity? His match last week with UT was the highlight of the show for me.

they were 'sweetening' it, to give Edge more of a face reaction and Jericho more of a heel reaction. They do this by varying the levels on the mics crowd noise is coming through, adding canned crowd noise and chants in postproduction (or live! I heard some sketchy things coming from the PA last time I went to a show), and dampening or cutting out sound on taped shows (most egregiously when RVD was still on Smackdown).

So, let me get this straight, how exactly did Nidia come off well in that segment? Everyone was blathering about that during the week when the spoilers came out.. but shit, after actually seeing it, I've seen Steve Blackman deliver more charismatic sequences of dialogue.

 

Oh, and Hardcore Holly, is a heel one week - playing Randy Orton's nemesis. But now, because Michael Cole says so, we're supposed to take him as a face. Because why? Angle broke his arm how-many-years-ago? Man, this Smackdown show.. is.. ugh. I don't even have a WORD to describe how shitty this was.
