snuffbox 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2006 This is a music festival in Vegas during Halloween weekend, with additional late-night shows at other venues on Fri/Mon/Tues. Its a bit pricey at 170$ (total) for the ticket, then hotel/travel/etc. The initail artist announcement leaves plenty to be desired, imo. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Widespread Panic The Killers The Mars Volta Keller Williams Incident featuring Keller Williams backed by the String Cheese Incident The Black Crowes Fiona Apple The Raconteurs Damien "Jr. Gong" Marley Medeski Martin & Wood The Roots The Rhythm Devils feat. Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman, Mike Gordon & Steve Kimock G. Love & Special Sauce Jurassic 5 Galactic Praxis Yonder Mountain String Band Gomez Built To Spill Guster Jim James of My Morning Jacket Dr. Octagon aka Kool Keith Band of Horses Jamie Lidell The Zutons Anybody here interested/going to this? More than a few names on there would be really cool...but I plan on taking a cheaper trip to NYC for Zappa Plays Zappa on Halloween.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2006 That's a pretty eclectic grouping of artists. There's a good few on there that I'd like to see (Tom Petty, Black Crowes, Roots, Jurassic 5, Built to Spill, Jim James, Band of Horses, Jr. Gong, Kool Keith) but $170 bucks is ridiculous for a ticket, and with travel and all it's just not worth it. Besides, Tom Petty and Jr. Gong are gonna be at ACL, and I've already seen The Black Crowes and Built to Spill. I originally misread Praxis as the Pixies. Still, I think that's an adequate assemblage of artists for a festival, especially considering the lack of quality music festivals in the US the last decade or so. It's good to see that there's some good ones springing up again.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2006 By the way, Vegoose is promted by the Bonnaroo folks. This looks kind of meager compared to the lineup that Roo had this year. Its kind of lame to bring back Tom Petty...and Widespread Panic is really played out. Praxis is pretty fun...has Buckethead, Bill Laswell, and Bernie Worrell. The Pixies would have made a much better headliner choice than either Petty or WSP, imo.
FroGG_NeaL 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2006 Gotdamn that's alot of mofos. I would love to go to that. Between The Crue/Aerosmith on Oct. 15, taking a road trip with my brothers on Nov. 16 back home for Thanksgiving, I doubt I'm gonna make it to Vegas. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Widespread Panic The Killers The Mars Volta Keller Williams Incident featuring Keller Williams backed by the String Cheese Incident The Black Crowes Fiona Apple The Raconteurs Damien "Jr. Gong" Marley Medeski Martin & Wood The Roots The Rhythm Devils feat. Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman, Mike Gordon & Steve Kimock G. Love & Special Sauce Jurassic 5 Galactic Praxis Yonder Mountain String Band Gomez Built To Spill Guster Jim James of My Morning Jacket Dr. Octagon aka Kool Keith Band of Horses Jamie Lidell The Zutons I'd be interested in all those.
