HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 Keep in mind the financial aspect for I-AA schools to play these I-A teams. There's definitely some gate going towards the I-AA school that gets the school paid more than if they were playing another I-AA team.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 Isn't FL Atlantic Howard Schnellenberger's awful team? How the mighty have fallen. Well, U of L has a huge one next week vs. Miami. I don't care that Michael Bush is hurt, or whatever injuries there are. This one's at home, so there's no reason not to beat them down. If we can pick up that win then there's Kansas St. after that (which a few weeks ago I mentioned as a trap game). That said, beat Miami and it's likely smooth sailing until the epic Nov. 2 game against WVU.
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 If teams are gonna schedule 1-AA opponents, they should only ask the very worst of them. There's no sense in beating a ranked 1-AA team, because nobody cares. Actually, any DI team in the top 50 or so is better off playing a high-ranked I-AA team than a low-ranked one. The way that Strength Of Schedule is figured for the BCS, a victory over a I-AA team is worthless but their losses still count against your total SoS. Beating Georgia Southern, a perennial I-AA contender, would only give you a penalty of adding 0-2 or so to your opponents' combined record. Beating Prarie View A&M, who has had a 70+ game losing streak in recent memory, could add closer to 0-11 to your SoS, which is like adding Temple to your schedule except that Temple's rare wins would count towards your SoS total. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 Mack Brown whines about the new clock rules: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2583128 He may have a point that the new rules are dumb, but insinuating Texas LOST because of the clock is just petty whining. Yeah, Texas lost because of the new clock rules... Don't you know that the clock rules picked off 2 passes and ran one of them back for a TD?!? WHAT A RUSH! lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 It's not that. Its the fact that late in a game teams can run off a minute on a drive just due to the new clock rules alone. Clock starts on first down, team has to burn timeout they would have usually used after first down play. Now instead of having two timeouts with two downs left before a punt they have just one now, and that can be directly attributed to the idiotic new rules which I feel are pointless, since I have never heard anyone go, " Well, gee that extra three minutes that Ohio State-Texas game went just ruined my whole day after that." Its the same NCAA and school adminstrator bullshit like this which prevents things like a true national champion, a playoff system, and night games at Michigan Stadium
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 12, 2006 The only thing I do like about the time rule change is that it makes it harder to score a TD from inside your 20 in less than a minute. The way that Strength Of Schedule is figured for the BCS, a victory over a I-AA team is worthless but their losses still count against your total SoS. I never knew that. That's messed up.
