Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Well, it's about time. My 360 is from 12/2005 (no problems yet), so this makes me feel a lot better now. http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=471333 http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4263 http://blogs.mercurynews.com/aei/2006/09/m...soft_dismi.html Here's Microsoft's statement: As part of our standard and ongoing process of analyzing repair data, we recently noticed a higher than usual number of units coming in for repair. Upon further investigation, it was further discovered that the bulk of the units were isolated to a group that was part of the initial manufacturing run of the console. Returns for repair are coming in for a variety reasons and it's a higher rate than we are satisfied with. We've made the decision to comp repairs for consoles manufactured before January 1, 2006, and provide refunds to the small group of customers who have already paid for repairs. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Yeah I just got done working my way through the myriad cutoffs and lost operators at Microsoft's customer service line to make my appointment. At least they're paying for the shipping.
Anya 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 This is one of my favorite PR pieces ever. It's like this 50/50 mix of admitting fault while downplaying the problem. Amazing damage control. "we recently noticed" "isolated" "the small group" Right MS, you just RECENTLY noticed this small, isolated problem.
