PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2006 PWG Presents "Self-Titled" on Friday, October 6! By SIlverback, PWG Staff Writer Orick, CA - Just over three weeks ago, Davey Richards overcame incredible odds in order to become the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament winner. Richards, who previously had a reputation as a fierce tag team competitor, is now poised to enter the upper echelon of PWG singles competitors. However, after his hard fought tournament victory over CIMA, Davey made it clear that he was not ready to dissolve his partnership with Super Dragon for singles glory, and the two would reunite to take on PWG World Tag Team Champions Arrogance ("Photogenic" Chris Bosh & Scott Lost). Fans may remember it was Arrogance, with help from fellow Dynasty members Scorpio Sky & PWG World Champion Joey Ryan, ended Richards & Dragon's seemingly unstopable tag team title reign earlier this year. However, Davey will have to wait just a little longer to get his hands on his lost gold (in the title sense, not the Indiana Jones sense). Unfortunately for Davey Richards, due to a conflict of dates with American Legion Post #308, the PWG event originally set for October 7 has now been rescheduled one night earlier for Friday, October 6, 2006 at 8:00PM at the American Legion. This means that due to prior commitments, Davey Richards will be unable to make the show, so both his 2006 Battle of Los Angeles trophy presentation, and his shot at Arrogance for the PWG World Tag Team titles, have now been rescheduled for PWG's October 21 event. With the change of dates and the loss of 2006 Battle of Los Angeles champion for "Self-Titled," PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood has decided to make the best of the situation and hopes fans will enjoy what he has in store for PWG's eponymous event on Friday night, October 6 at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda! PWG World Championship Match Joey Ryan © vs. El Snowflake - Diving off of the silver screen and into the hearts of PWG fans everywhere is El Snowflake! Fighting out Ejersa Goro, Harar, Ethiopia, El Snowflake took the place of the injured Human Tornado on the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles in the Four-Way elimination match for the PWG World Championship. With his unorthodox Lucha Libre technique, Snowflake forced the champion, Joey Ryan, to retreat from the ring and ultimately be counted out! While technically victorious in the match, the PWG World Championship does not change hands on a count out, so Joey once again retained the title. However, because of his victory over the PWG World Champion, El Snowflake was granted a title shot at "Self-Titled" by benevolent Commissioner Dino Winwood! Will El Snowflake be able to prevail without the element of surprise on his side, or will Joey Ryan have some new form of skullduggery in store for the competitor from the Dark Continent? PWG World Tag Team Match Arrogance ("Photogenic" Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) © vs. B-Boy & Super Dragon - With his regular tag team partner unable to make it, Super Dragon was given the option of waiting till October 21 to face Arrogance alongside Davey Richards, or to pick a new partner and have at them on October 6. Super Dragon, known for making rash decisions, actually took quite some time to consider this offer from Commissioner Winwood and ultimately chose to take the shot at Arrogance on October 6. When asked for a comment on the situation, Super Dragon Office responded with this statement: "While it is regrettable that Davey Richards is unable to team with Super Dragon on October 6, we hope that Mr. Richards, and anyone else who may question Mr. Dragon's decision remember what took place at 'Enchantment Under The Sea,' when Mr. Dragon was grievously injured by The Dynasty. We would also like to remind those who question the decision of the fact that Mr. Dragon was cost the chance at winning the [2006 Battle of Los Angeles] by Joey Ryan, a member of The Dynasty. Because of these two events, Mr. Dragon has chosen to team with B-Boy, who has also been repeatedly wronged by The Dynasty, in hopes of gaining some measure of revenge. Mr. Dragon would also like to remind fans that the titles cannot change hands if he or Mr. Boy were disqualified for unnecessary use of force, or some other long forgotten rule of professional wrestling, and if that were to occur, Arrogance may be extremely 'tender' for the title defense against Mr. Dragon & Mr. Richards on October 21." When reached for a rebuttal, Arrogance and The Dynasty had no response for what may be the most verbose death threat ever recorded. Intergender First Blood Handicap Match "The Future" Frankie Kazarian vs. Scorpio Sky & Jade Chung - At the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, fans were reminded of exactly how many irons The Dyansty had in the fire, so to speak. While they have made enemies of seemingly everyone on the PWG roster, there are few that have as big of a score to settle as "The Future" Frankie Kazarian. Attacked from behind and shorn of his trademark locks by Scorpio Sky in May, 2006, Frankie hoped his chance for revenge would come in the first round of the annual tournament. The match quickly devolved into a wild brawl that went the length and width of the building, including a vicious powerbomb off the stage by Frankie Kazarian on Scorpio Sky. After that, everyone in attendence knew Scorpio Sky could not return from such a brutal maneuver, including Sky's valet Jade Chung, who attempted to prove she is as deadly as she is lovely when she literally stabbed Frankie in the back with a pair of scissors. This act of attempted murder set the stage for the first ever in PWG (and possible in the world of professional wrestling, our intern is out to lunch) Intergender First Blood Handicap Match! Initially, Jade Chung refused to take part in the match, however when Commissioner Winwood told Jade that attempted murder carries a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison, and that three cameras were recording the Battle of Los Angeles, she quickly changed her tune. Will Scorpio Sky be able to protect Jade Chung, and continute his planned destruction of Frankie Kazarian, or will Frankie Kazarian get revenge, and hand The Dynasty their biggest defeat yet? Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) vs. Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley - Cape Fear has had a tough couple of months since Super Dragon & Davey Richards lost the PWG World Tag Team titles, losing on the last three occasions they teamed together. While they still have a high level of fan support, that kind of record won’t put you in anybody’s top 8. Enter the seemingly unlikely duo of Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley. Sabin & Shelley have been on a roll in Japan as of late, even winning the ZERO1-MAX International Lightweight Tag Titles last August and proving they are a formidable tag team. A victory over Sabin & Shelley for Cape Fear may be exactly what it takes to put them back in the PWG title picture, but will El Generico’s impressive performance at the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles put ideas of singles gold in his head? Also taking place on Friday, October 6 at "Self-Titled," Central Florida native Chasyn Rance makes his PWG debut taking on Ronin! Plus much more! Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Self-Titled" takes place at American Legion Post #308 on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 8:00PM. The American Legion Post #308 is located at 7338 Canby Ave., Reseda, CA 91335. Tickets are $20 each, and will be available at the door. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected]. PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 PWG just added a new match: Just added to "Self-Titled," taking place on Friday, October 6, 2006 at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA: In a rematch from "(Please Don't Call It) The O.C.," Rocky Romero will be taking on TJ Perkins! Perkins believes this match could prove to be a huge opportunity for him to climb the ladder here in PWG, since he went undefeated in both the 2005 & 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournaments. Rocky Romero lost in the second round of last year's tournament to Quicksilver, and in the first round to Roderick Strong this year. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected]." Their match at OC in May was very good. It's a solid addition to the card.

PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 Quick results: Ronin beat Chasyn Rance with a Death Valley Driver TJ Perkins beat Rocky Romero after a series of very smooth pinfall reversals Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley beat Cape Fear (El Generico and Quicksilver) after Sabin delivered a second-rope Cradle Shock on Generico - extremely good match. Sabin and Shelley brought out their Z1MAX tag belts. Scorpio Sky and Jade Chung beat Frankie Kazarian in a first-blood handicap match after Jade played dead, distracting Frankie enough for Sky to hit an Implant DDT on a chair and bust him open. Really similar to a WWE angle advancement, but done well. Finish was a little flat though. Joey Ryan vs. El Snowflake did not happen, as Joey attacked Candice LaRae before the match began and laid her out with a piledriver on a chair. Snowflake carried her to the back, and interim commissioner Quicksilver (Dino couldn't make it tonight) intervened, only to get a piledriver himself. Human Tornado returned as himself and beat Joey clean with his finisher off the second rope...BUT since the contract was signed as "El Snowflake" and not "Human Tornado," the contract is null. Super Dragon and B-Boy defeated Arrogance (Scott Lost and Chris Bosh) to win the PWG tag team titles, in a match almost as good as their Use Your Illusion 3 encounter. Super Dragon used the Psycho Driver 3 on Lost, followed by a B-Boy Shining Wizard. Overall, fun show, but far from PWG's best. Crowd was only selectively responsive through out the night. Which hurt a few matches. Nothing announced for the 10/21 show, but he know Chris Hero will be there, and it has been revealed on Joey's MySpace page that it will be in La Habra
