Dumbo's mom died, I know I remember that dark mess

 

I'm 80% positive the movie ends with Dumbo flying behind the circus train with his mom in the caboose waving at him as he followed them to their next destination...

it was on ToonDisney not too long ago...it'd been at least 10 years since i had seen it.

Well "Little Mermaid" had been on Disney's minds for YEARS... like, late 40s early 50s. They were going to include it as part of a Hans Christian Andersen compilation, but in 1952 Danny Kaye released the film "Hans Christian Andersen" and so it was shelved.

 

In 1986, it was talked about again, but shot down because they had just released Splash. The man behind the pushing, Ron Clements, finally got his way later that year and the film was released three years later.

 

 

Edit: A quick glance through IMDB pushes some early idea sketches for the film back to the 30s.
