thank you

a) Most likely, but that's already been done to a large extent.

B) Friendly until they realized how evil the human race is. Then they'd crush us like bugs.

c) I'd prefer for them to look like humans. I'd like to be able to say I scored some martian 'tang before I reach my final resting place.

dear kinetic,

since my posts seem to be the only ones salvaged during the transition, do you think this thread will go the way of the contentious statements with you and i going back and forth until the others catch on how genius of an idea this is?

next, is eddy grant's "electric avenue" the coolest non-reggae song ever by a guy with dreadlocks?

next, when I saw Elvis Costello at wal-mart yesterday, I accidentally smacked the glasses off his face should I have...

a) picked them up for him

b ) try and step on them claiming it was an accident

c) kick them across the floor making him fetch them

Finally, are you still game to take over velocity for a couple of weeks?

I'd post something here, but I can't think of any questions. Aha! Got one!

Assistant Proconsul Kinetic,

Is it unhealthy for me to know the lyrics to just as many pop songs as songs that are not considered such? I can sing right along with Radiohead, The Beatles, The Verve and all, but I can sing just as much with Britney, Kylie, and DDR. Should I be worried?

I thought of a few more bands/groups/troupes/people for an opinion on:

The Verve

Korn

The Monkees

"Weird Al" Yankovic

80s music in general

i'll give the opinion on the monkees. the monkees are friggin great. they may have been a fabricated band without the cred of other 60's bands but they were privileged to have some of the greatest songwriters ever write music for them. plus, mike nesmiths's songs aren't too shabby either.

a few of the names worth mentioning who wrote songs for the monkees are neil diamond, nillson, boyce & hart, goffin-king and others.

as for the songs, they stand side by side any other great pop songs of the 60's!!! now bite on that.

Duh, I wanted his opinion, not yours. I already know and love whatever I ask his opinion about, so I am quite aware of the Monkees' greatness.

No less a personage than Bob FUCKING Pollard claims the Monkees as an influence, and when the guy who fronts and writes the songs for Guided By Voices--the greatest rock band on earth--was inspired by you, then you are truly something special.

I'll give my opinion whenever I feel like it. I own Europe!!!! In the meantime, if you know how great the monkees are then why bother asking what someone else feels about them?

No, back to the topic at hand....

Dear Kinetic,

What do you think of the monkees?

Why do hotdogs come in packs of 8 and hotdog buns come in packs of 12?

You must be one of them fucking Animaniacs.

Hey, the Animaniacs OWNED. Especially Wakko, I loved his quasi-Ringo voice.

It's time for me to show all you suckas how it's done. We'll go ahead and disregard all of the unanswered questions, as they're irrelevant now. For all of those reading the rest of the thread for the first time, the reason several posts are missing is due to the tragic events of 5/19 (that was it, right?). A moment of silence, please. Okay. Bring the questions.

Why are you ripping off Dames & JHawk?

It was 6/19, not 5/19. Rest assured, Austrailia paid for what they did.

Kotz without Fo and/or Sheez!!! Weird!

Anyway, Kinetic, do you like the ladies?

And what do you know about them?

Guest Kotzenjunge

Geri looks awful in that picture too, and I started saying "fo sheez" on here when my computer was resurrected in mid-August. Check the date, foo'.

Now for my question:

Kinetic, just what sets your question and answer thread apart from the others?

Fo sheez,

Kotzenjunge

Kotz is right. Geri Halliwell was never very good looking to begin with, but she looks awful in that picture. I'd sooner hit Dido than that.

Guest Marshall

Dildo looks like a man in that picture! Are you both insane?

Guest Kotzenjunge

Dido looks pretty good, and I have yet to see a bad picture of her. Geri seems to delight in making them though. There was a reason she wasn't my favorite Spice Girl.

'Cuz he did it first! He's like the New York Dolls... once everyone else started ripping off their music people forget totally about them!

But dammit, I read Kinetic's posts back when he was underground!

Guest Kotzenjunge

Hey, so I was I. I acknowledged his greatness back in the day for being a Vonnegut fan. I thought he was almost a carbon copy of me until I realized that I wasn't as knowledgeable about music and he's much more handsome.

Oh, and the Bukkake thing.

I do indeed like the ladies, although I can't say I'm particularly fond of Geri Halliwell in that picture. I may be one of the few people on here who doesn't find her completely repulsive, too, so you should have found a better picture than that. She looks like a pixie. And not in that cute as a button Bjork sort of way, but in a "I'll rip off your flesh if you don't give me back me gold" sort of way. Not attractive.

Fo sheez,

Kotzenjunge

A few things. First of all, I was the originator. No one did this type of thread on this board until I did. I introduced the idea. Me. Secondly, my Q&A style is unique because I'll often make no real attempt at answering the question. If I can make a joke that I'm satisfied with and not get around to giving an answer, then so be it. I'll leave it at that. In addition, I'm the only Q&A man around here who isn't afraid to not answer a question that doesn't interest him. Dames answers all his questions. JHawk answers all his questions. Kinetic only answers what he wants to answer. And if I manage to answer the questions I do bother with to anyone's satisfaction then it should be considered a small miracle.

Did I mention that I was the first to use this type of thread here? Because I was. Me.

Fo sheez,

Kotzenjunge

I've never heard a bad mix that included the Pixies' "Debaser." It's one of the great opening tracks of all time, in my opinion, and has graced many a comp that I've made for many a musically-incompetent girl. Hard to say other than that, although I do believe Wilco's "War on War" would fit in on any compilation quite well. If all this stuff is surrounded by Kylie Minogue and her ilk, then disregard everything I've said and seek out "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany.

It isn't like a CD of songs I'm putting together, it's a continuous mix.

A continuous mix of today's hits and yesterday's favorites? How does that work?
