Did anyone get this dvd? And did you like it? I say this because i found this out today:

From WWE:The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship

Wrestling - Release Date: 9/18/07

I want to ask what do you think a difference(since vince owns the wccw library) will be between vince's and the movie/documentr on the von erich's/wccw? Evan though vince owns the library, does he really know alot on the wccw history/wrestlers? How come there's no dvd made about the wcw? I mean they did a dvd on ecw. How about a dvd on regional promotions that ae out of business or ones he has libraries of.

It's typically pretty tough to get something a year before its release date.

Ah, my mistake. I assume he means Heroes of World Class.

Honestly, it's one of the best documentary/shoot style wrestling DVD's I've ever seen. I may be biased because I grew up a huge fan of World Class, but you're not going to get a more honest look at a company than with this. There's really no revisionist history to be found. Everything is talked about in an open and frank manner, from the Von Erich tragedies to Gino Hernandez's coke addiction to the feelings on the death of Bruiser Brody (who was a big help to the territory both as a star and an occasional booker). Definitely recommended viewing, especially before WWE tries to recreate the history of the fed with their own release.

Now that I know which DVD we're talking about, I think I may have to pick this one up. Unfortunately, I was too young to see WCCW in it's heyday, but I remember the GWF on ESPN, which was sort of the offspring of WCCW, and I've seen a lot of the old WCCW classic angles on tape. Definitely glad to hear "Heroes of World Class" doesn't sugar coat anything.

wish someone could release old GWF stuff on dvd(outside of some of those cheap "early years of so and so" ones) wonder who owns that footage?

I'm not sure who would own that footage off hand...I think GWF actualy had two or three different ownership groups over its short life.

I remember watching it after school on weekdays...but looking back, I'm sure some of the wrestling was pretty awful that they had on.
