CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Oy. Barring a miracle in Lawrence, I'm losing by tiebreak. I'd need another miracle to make the championship game, although not making it could be a good thing. Fortunately, iggy and Edwin lost as well, so it could be really close for second. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 I think I become bowl eligible with the tiebreaker. edit: Nevermind, I win outright if Kansas holds.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Kansas St. can beat Texas, but they can't be Oliver Hardy and Kansas.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 I'm not sure about this but I think I probably have one of the most impressive 6 wins, since they were all over quality teams, I think.
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 I'll go over the conference championships in the BCS Rankings post. I need time to figure out the Big MAC who finish with a five-way tie for 1st. Bored 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Spaceman Spiff has probably locked up a spot in the Bored Bowl for the second straight year as they have a commanding lead over the pack. There were no changes this week in ranking from 2 thru 5 but they are packed tighter than ever. There is less than one rating point seperating them. Bored Championship Rankings thru Week 12 1. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 3.1 2. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 6.0 3. Syracuse - CanadianChris 6.55 4. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 6.7 5. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 6.95 6. Hawaii - Will Scarlet 9.1 7. Stanford - Bored 9.15 8. Oregon - nogoodnick 10.15 9. Minnesota - Vern Gagne 10.75 10. Kentucky - Danville Wrestling 15.45 Other Receiving Votes: Arizona State (Spicy McHaggis), Temple (Ortonsault), Texas (UTBroward), UCLA (phoenixrising) Now for the confernece championships. For the Big MAC I decided that with the unexpected five-way tie that the fairest way to break it is by overall record, thus Vern Gagne and JHawk advance. SE7: South Carolina (Cuban Linx) vs. Kentucky (Danville Wrestling) WAC: Georgia Tech (iggymcfly) vs. Miami (Spaceman Spiff) Edwin lost to both iggy and Spiff so he is the odd man out. Big MAC: Minnesota (Vern Gagne) vs. Kent State (JHawk) Pac-8: USC (Cartman) vs. Oregon (nogoodnick) nogoodnick beat phoenxrising. Big 8: Texas (UTBroward) vs. Oklahoma (Vampiro69) Vampiro beat CanadianChris. Now the updated bowl eligibility list. Locked Up a Bid Virginia Georgia Tech South Carolina UCLA Miami Syracuse Oregon Stanford Minnesota Kentucky Arizona State USC San Jose State Bowl Eligible Hawaii Texas Notre Dame Tennessee Florida LSU San Diego State Kent State Oklahoma So that's 13 out 18 bids that are locked up with 9 other teams left for 5 spots. Now three 6-6 teams (Texas, Kent State, Oklahoma) will be in conference championships. If they win they obviously get in but they will be passed over if they lose. Here's a reminder of the bids. The Big MAC and Big 8 won't be able to fill all their bids. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Do I even have a shot to get in?
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Honestly I have no clue how the 6-6 bids will shake out. If your 6-6 you want to root for Vern Gagne to beat JHawk as that would knock him out and obviously the Big 8 loser will be knocked out. One thing to keep in mind is like in real bowl games I will avoid matching up teams who played each other already when possible which could come into play when picking which 6-6 teams get in. Just be sure to pay attention to the championship thread.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Whew, glad to see I held on to my #2 ranking this week. I knew that a loss wouldn't hurt me much this week since I maintained a tie for second place in overall record. I was kinda worried though after seeing that I got less picks right than CanadianChris. Oh well, just one more good week and I'm in the championship. Interestingly enough in the year of the rematch, I might end up with three games against Spaceman Spiff and Miami after winning the regular season matchup, and needing a good performance in the conference championship to play Miami again in the BCS title game. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 I'm not sure if I am happy or disapointed. I started 0-5 and looked headed to a winless season before going 5 for 7 to close the season (beating some good names). Being tied for 3rd after looking like the actual Miami(OH) program is somewhat good but still disapointing knowing that if it weren't for that horrendous 3 win performence last week, I could have slipped into the conference title game or at least a bowl bid. Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Traditional Bowl presented by the Yellow Submarine: Pac-8 #1/BCS vs. Big MAC #1/BCS So if I win the conf. championship game and win the Pac 8 record wise I still won't make this Bowl because of BCS ranking? Weird situation, I have the best conf. record overall and not close to being ranked
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 If you win the Pac-8, you're in the Traditional Bowl. It only goes to a BCS at-large if the Pac-8 winner's playing in the BCS championship.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 Looks like heartbreak for Syracuse for the third straight year. At least I kept my top-10 streak alive. 26 weeks and counting, I think.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2006 So I'm either going to the Traditional Bowl or SinisTar Bowl. I'm just looking to finish inside the Top 10 in the final rankings.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2006 Looks like heartbreak for Syracuse for the third straight year. Not necessarily. If I lose to #1 Miami in the WAC championship, I think you've got a great chance of getting in, as the distance between us is pretty small. I'd probably have to at least outperform my season average in correct picks to get in if I don't win.
