Guest Kinetic Report post Posted June 16, 2002 Going back to something Kinetic said in the second post on this thread: punk kids. Okay, this is something that REALLY pisses me off. I'm not talking about the "We love Blink!" teenybopper TRL set. I'm talking about the nose-ring, plaid pants, suspenders, and spikes-wearing crowd who don't bathe and act "punk" all the time. Seriously, people. This isn't "punk." This is imitating what the punk scene looked like in 1977. The fact that you run around kicking over trash cans, spilling things and farting in department stores, and throwing rocks at well-dressed people does not make you a punk: it makes you a dumb-ass. That is all. Agreed. One of my all-time favorite quotes is from Johnny Rotten in The Filth and the Fury, where he essentially says that punk died in the late 70s because something that was originally about rebellion turned into this really narrow worldview with uniforms and everything. When I see people with purple mohawks and leather jackets yelling "Oi!," I always think of that.
