It's a good match, but I would have gone with their Ultimate X match which had the spectacular finish of Daniels leaping off the top of the rigging,

I've never seen that match, but you're right, that spot looked amazing on the replays. i was hoping they'd go with that one.

The rest of the line-up, from TNA's site:

Eight-Mile Street Fight FROM BOUND FOR GLORY 2006

Christian Cage vs. “The War Machine” Rhino

Dream Match Of The Decade FROM GENESIS 2006

Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle vs. “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe

I thought the street fight was well-done well I saw it, but I actually think the cage match from the 2 hour Impact was better. I know it wasn't a PPV match, but it went about 15 minutes and was PPV quality. And I only saw Angle/Joe I, so I can't compare it to the other matches, but I remember it being a good match that ended really abruptly.

That would be the one Joe lost correct? I don't think it's very wise to showcase one of your "homegrown" talents getting beat by Angle on a show that is suppose to attract the WWE viewer and new viewers in general........

I have a comment to make about new fans watching TNA.......I got a friend of mine to check it out and not even a minute in this was the comment I heard "What is with this stupid fucking ring...I hate this ring". Then followed alot of this is awful it's like a D rate WWE with shittier guys....what makes it funnier is for all the bad booking that he hated.....the ring was the thing he hated the most.

How many people do you think tune into TNA see that ring and that's it?

The 10% of people who expect to see DX B team spend the first 20 minutes making stupid slut jokes or wanting to see Kevin Nash make Vanilla Midget jokes.

*NWA champion Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Abyss vs. Sting vs. Ron Killings- King of the Mountain (Slammiversary 2006)

I would have gone with the one where Raven wins, but i understand that they need to show current stars. But then ending to the match did suck.

*NWA Tag Team champions AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. LAX- Six Sides of Steel (Bound for Glory 2006)

Excellent match. And, personally, I think it was better than their UX match. Actually, where is a showcase of the UX match?

*NWA champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting with Kurt Angle as the official Enforcer (Bound for Glory 2006)

Meh, not a great match by no mean, but the atmosphere was good. But that doesnt really count for much.

Eight-Mile Street Fight FROM BOUND FOR GLORY 2006 Christian Cage vs. “The War Machine” Rhino

Lame. The match wasnt that good. Should have had an UX match here instead

Dream Match Of The Decade FROM GENESIS 2006 Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle vs. “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe

Even lamer. Id have shown the second match, for two reasons. 1) Joe won and 2) It was a better match.

Thats my two cents.

And Joe is meant to be getting the NWA title very soon, so it really is questionable showing a Joe match where he not only loses but taps out. A better match to show for Joe would have been the second Joe/Daniels/Styles match so you not only get a good X-Division match in there, but one where Joe wins. For Angle, I think it would have been better to just show clips of him looking good, because not only would do a better job of getting Angle over without having to see Joe tap out, but the people tuning are going to have seen Angle anyway, so you can get away with not showing him wrestle yet. It's stuff like this, among many things, that make you wonder what TNA are smoking.

The latest Observer says the new gimmick match will be called an Elevation X match, which will be a scaffold match involving X-Division wrestlers.

That gimmick is stupid on so many levels that even for TNA it leaves you shaking your head that it ever got approved.

I'm surprised that TNA will not show the 20 minute feature/highlights from the Best of the X Division volume 2 to get Joe/AJ/Daniels over. If I were to make a very best of Impact it would be:

Joe vs Daniels 1st Spike TV Impact

Joe vs Ron Killings

Jeff Jarrett vs Jay Lethal - the one that had Steiner interfere with the pipe

A match where Petey wins with the Canadian Destroyer

One of the X Cup matches maybe USA vs Japan

Think you can explain the rules? Is it the one where judges will bw watching it?

A scaffold match sees the wrestlers on a platform high above the ring with the object to throw your opponent off the scaffold. The scaffold is small and you can't do much on it apart from kick, punch and maybe slam someone, and the matches always suck. So, of course it makes perfect sense to put X-Division wrestlers in this kind of match, where it negates their strength of putting on fast paced and athletic matches.

hmm...how small will the scaffol be? it might not be so bad if they just use it to be more like an actual wrestling match with ponts and such. probable not going to happen, just a thought.

If WSX had a scaffold match I would imagine Teddy Hart, Jack Evens, or M-Dogg doing a 1040 flip of death onto a stack of tables or New Jack simply throwing people off the scaffold because he really hates them. I really feel sorry for the poor guy who has to take the leap of faith......poor Sonjay is going to die for not being over.

Usually scaffold matches involve alot of crawling around........Russo tried this bullshit in WCW with Shane Douglas and Kidman I believe......it was awful. All they did was crawl around on the scaffold for 10 minutes.

its horribly stupid to not show a 2 hour special of a Clash of the Champions type deal with current matches and current storylines...showing old matches makes no sense to me

With the current booking and product, can you really blame em?

If they did go that route it would be counter productive cause the fan would look at the Russo booking and say "this is no better than WWE".

The problem with this is that for any new viewer turning in, he only knows Sting, Jarrett and Cage and probably thinks this is current. They don't know it's a clip show right now.

That's what they tried with the Best Damn Sports Show Period tapings and it got them nowhere. I don't blame them for trying this.

but the idea is to get viewers into watching TNA every thursday night which features current booking so why not introduce the audience to that?

Because you want them to stick around for at least one show before they switch off.

I'm sure that'll come near the end of the show.
