EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 Baseball's Caribbean World Series kicks off tomorrow from Puerto Rico. The Series is a six day, round robin tournament between the winter league champions of Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Fox Sports Espaniol is airing the Series, and Sports New York has picked up the series as well. If you have a chance, check out the games.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 1, 2007 The lack of Cuba in these games always make it less important when they're talking about "Caribbean" teams.
Shooting Star 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 The score for the Venezuela vs Dominican Republic game is 2 - 2 right now in the 8th inning. The Dominican team is gonna have a much harder time this year since Las Aguilas Cibaeñas(The winner in the Dominican Winter Season) doesn't have much of it's players for the series, Edwin Encarnacion , Mendy Lopez , Melky Cabrera the stars of the team had to go back to U.S.A for their American teams after the Dominican season ended. Shooting Star 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2007 Top of the 16th inning and at 5 hours 14 minutes this game is about to break the record of longest game in the history of the CWS which was also between Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2007 18th inning. This is now the longest I've ever spent watching a single game in my life.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2007 Venezuelans take a 3-2 lead in the 18th on back-to-back doubles by Luis Maza and Ron Cedeno. Two errors by the Venezuelans and an RBI single from Alberto Castillo tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Unbelieveable.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2007 The Dominicans win 4-3 in 18 innings. What an unbelievable game. And Puerto Rico/Mexico is still to come.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Great day for the Phils' farm system today. Fabio Castro and Tim McClaskey led their respective teams to blowout victories. Through three games... Dominican Republic (3-0) Puerto Rico (2-1) Venezuela (1-2) Mexico (0-3) Three games to go. A tie will result in a one game playoff. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 Whose idea was it to dissolve professional baseball in Cuba? This tournament was a big disappointment outside of the first game.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 9, 2007 Cuba's amateurs already showed last year they can not only hang with, but beat professionals from around the world. But yeah, this tournament wasn't all that good. Venezuela-D.R. was a hell of a game, though. Bring on the Pan American games in July!
