Scroby 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 Here are the full results, I copied and pasted directly from a CCW source. In front of another standing-room only crowd of 310 at the FDES Hall in Newman, CA, the fans in attendance witnessed a major part of CCW History before their eyes-- a 6 man tournament which culminated in a triple-threat match at the end of the night to determine the FIRST CCW WESTSIDE CHAMPION! The fans were in awe of the awesome-looking new belt on display in the ring at the start of the evening, when "friend of the fans" JJ Purdom announced each of the participants of the 6 man tournament who came ringside and shook hands before the match. However just before the start of the first round, JJ was rudely interrupted by that nefarious interloper Buddy Sotello Esquire, who amid thundering chorus of booing and "you suck" chants from the crowd, proceeded to tell the "Newman Inhumans" (In his words) that he was not going to sit idly by while Vinnie had another title defense without facing the Syndicate. He proved once again that he is the "Master of the Contract" by signing the crafty ring veteran "Showtime" Shane Dynasty to represent the Syndicate in a title match against Vinnie "The Innovator" Massaro. Shane came ringside and stated that he was living in his own personal hell where Newman represented his salvation by giving him the chance to take the title from Vinnie. After Buddy and Shane left the ring, Buddy went up to the new commentator area and continued to cause problems for JJ during the remainder of the show. The First round of the CCW Westside Tournament consisted of old-style Japanese wrestling protege' Ryan Drago against the high flying phenom Virgil Flynn. Ryan used his size to his advantage to attack Virgil with power moves, but Virgil's speed and almost flawless physical conditioning allowed him to gain the upper hand against the larger Ryan. Ryan tried working the shoulder of Flynn, however Virgil was able to tie up Ryan during one of his attempts to hurt his arm, and was able to get a quick 3 count against Drago. The next match in the CCW Westside Tournament round featured the return of Bonzai Bruce vs one of the favorites to win the tournament, Big Ugly JD Bishop! JD "welcomed" Bruce back to the NorCal scene by landing some ugly chops, big slams, and heavy power moves. Bruce has shown that he has added a lot to his ring presence by working extensiveliy with Harley Race's academy in Missouri but it was not enough to overcome one of the best ring veterans in the sport today, and JD proved that by getting the win over a very capable Bruce. Wild would not adequately describe the next match which featured two larger-than life characters in Super Otaku against newcomer R-Cayde. R-Cayde came to the ring dressed in a very strange outfit (as if appearance mattered with an opponent in an orange jumpsuit and wild Japanese Anime Hair and a mask!)-- Wearing a t-shirt with "Trained Professional" and "Nintendo" markings on it, Cayde used a strange "Power Glove" on his wrist to nail the high flying Otaku and put a special "power claw" on Otaku's forehead, rendering him helpless and forcing referee Toby to call for the submission! "Brownsnake" Jesus Kruz came out to ringside after the tournament and berated the crowd for insulting his display of the Mexican flag in front of the chanting fans. The fans weren't upset at Jesus so much for waving the flag as they were that he was taking time away from their favorite wrestler, "Mother Truckin'"Otis who again raised the roof of the FDES Hall when he came out to his famous theme from Smokey and the Bandit! Jesus certainly is as tough as they come, but he was no match for the sheer size and power that the tractor-trailer known as MTO has when he shifts it into high gear! Otis was able to slam Jesus down to the mat with all his weight and got the big win! After a brief 15 minute intermission, the fans were all in their seats to see their beloved champion, Vinnie Massaro, take on the hated Showtime Shane with Buddy Sotello Esq. giving him ring advice... Buddy said he had trained Shane so well that he could do commentary during the match and not even need to be ringside. However the match did not go Buddy's or Shane's way from the outset, and Vinnie soon had the upper hand over Shane despite Shane nailing poor referee Toby over the head with a chair. Vinnie got to the top rope to do a moonsault, but Buddy pulled on the top rope causing Vinnie to miss and giving Shane a great chance to upset Vinnie for the title. However, Buddy and Toby were arguing on the ring apron over the events that had transpired earlier in the match, and Shane came up to get Toby's attention, Vinnie regained his consciousness to push Shane into Buddy, forcing Buddy off the ring apron and onto the floor in front of taunting fans, and Vinnie got the small package pin on a stunned Dynasty. Back in the ring, Buddy had a fit and again was in tears with another title shot going down the drain. Shane threatened to hit Buddy who curled up into a little ball in the ring and shook like a leaf. Shane left the ring disgusted but the feud between Buddy and Shane will continue! Finally, one of the most exciting matches in CCW history unfolded where Big Ugly JD Bishop, R-Cayde and Virgil Flynn all collided in a triple-threat match to determine the new CCW Westside title. There is no way any amount of prose could cover the wild action that took place in the ring on that rainy Saturday Night-- even the pictures don't do it justice-- All 3 competitors gave it their all and the fans were thrilled. Big Ugly had the upper hand for most of the match, but then R-Cayde mounted a tremendous comeback, but in the end, it was the ultra-talented Virgil who perservered throughout the intense match to win the title! A reserved, thankful Virgil accepted the title, despite R-Cayde's temper tantrum at having lost somewhat marring the tremendous sportsmanship displayed during the match. CCW is proud to have Virgil Flynn crowned as its first CCW Westside Champion! Come see CCW in Newman when we return Saturday March 17th 2007 at 7pm at the FDES Hall!
